Just a reminder to anyone that own property in Kentucky that Property Taxes are now due.

You get a 2% discount if paid by Oct 31

Face amount is due until Jan 1

5% penalty during January

21% penalty if paid between February and April 15th

If not paid by April 15th your tax bill MAY be bought by a 3rd party and you will then owe them the Full Amount+21% Penalty+Interest+Legal Fees. If not paid they have the option of putting a lien on your property which would block you from ever selling it until they were paid.

If you own property anywhere in Kentucky you OWE property taxes, even if you don't get a tax bill in the mail. Millions of tax bills are mailed out each year and some are invariably lost in the mail. Contact the Sheriff's Office in the county where the property is, to find out what is owed.

You can now return to you regular programming.

Yes you can mail them in...include a SASE and they will send you a receipt.

Pulaski County Sheriff's Office

PO BOX 752

Somerset KY 42502

If you don't have your Bill, you can look on their website to see the amount.

Something crazy to think of...think of the busiest store in your community, during the month of October your local Sheriff's office is taking in more each week than the local Walmart, Target, Kroger or Meijers does during the same time frame.

Most exciting time of year to manage an escrow staff. 4th quarter really wears me down every year as we try to gather all of the applicable bills and confirm we are paying the correct parcels. It can be very difficult depending on the area and the amount of information the PVA makes accessible.

I still haven't gotten anything. Doubt I will get it in time for the bank to pay it by the 31st.

If your bank pays them for you from escrow, they should already have the info. If you haven't received your copy, contact your local Sheriff's Office or stop in and they can print you a duplicate Bill.

I wouldn't go as far as to say "should". My escrow staff has an incredibly difficult time getting tax bills from some of the sheriff's offices. The counties that make the bills viewable on the web make it easy, but the others can be a nightmare. There are still several communities in Kentucky that hand write bills, believe it or not.

They still sent me a letter asking me to send it to them. Which I will, as soon as I get it. :irked:

True, the software they use locally the escrow company can just load the bills on a disc and send in one check total. I think they can pull the bills directly from the software. Too bad all Sheriff's Offices don't use the same software, locally they had one company that was horrendous a few years ago.

I'd go by local SO and get a copy and drop it off at your bank. Tax Bills should have been mailed out by all Sheriff's Offices on or around the 1st. City taxes are separate and would come from the City if you live in a City (in most cases).

I did get the city one a month or so ago. I'll give it this week and then I'll stop by.
