Dropkick Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 Very high expectations heading into the year will be tempered somewhat with our starting center recovering from knee surgery till probably January. State high jump champ Grace Campbell will fill in until then. She doesn't play ball year around due to track and field. We lost two valuable seniors, while not scoring a lot they were heavy contributors in every other way. Junior point guard Macey Turley will lead the way and is a pleasure to watch. She will play d1 for sure and two other juniors Lex Mayes and Alexis Burpo will also have opportunities. Senior Brittney Lawson will move into a starting roll. Shoots the three well and is an all region soccer player. Junior Lilly Grogan, also an all region soccer player will provide solid depth at guard. Defending the all a title will be goal #1. A return to the sweet 16 is also a goal. A very nice preseason schedule including a rematch with Butler early, Marshall Co. Hoopfest, McCracken Co. mustang madness, xmas in Lexington, and a nice post xmas tourney at Murray with Bowling Green, North Hardin coming to town. 20 year head coach Rechelle Turner is second to none around these parts in our humble opinion. Can't wait to get started

Can't wait to get started Geez, what do they put in that lake water??? Lots of athletic ladies for a school of less than 500 total. Can only speak to Burpo/Turley/Mayes, but I know they are the real deal. Good Luck!!!

sweet16 Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 Played Graves Co and Webster Co. and won both without Waldrop. Both of those teams are solid and they beat them without Waldrop shows how good they will be when she gets back.
Region2Fan Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 Webster didn't have starting point guard, still recovering from last year's knee injury. She didn't play at all in varsity scrimmage. Even without her, Webster won one quarter and Murray won 3. If added up score from all 4 quarters Murray won by 15. They ran their offense very well and also shot a high percentage from the floor. They are a definitely a state contender. Well coached and talented team! Webster looked timid early with new coach and no point guard. They missed a ton of easy baskets, but came back and won second quarter. Still very young with only one senior, but will also have a good season.

Shame to hear about Waldrop, hopefully she makes a full recovery. Turley is a special player, and Mayes and Burpo are as equally talented.

Dropkick Posted December 2, 2016 Posted December 2, 2016 The season ending injury was to Loryn Carver, who plays third base for softball. Brittany Lawson is fine and starting this year at guard. She will play soccer next year at Asbury.
