I'm not sure, but I do know that in '04 in the 1st region, every district loser went on to win their 1st round game in the regional tournament.

Nice call. From what I can find Lafayette in 1979 is the only one to do it. The talent loaded team of Miiniefield(UK), Willson(WKU), Johnson(Cincy) and Rose(Transy I think) lost to Tates Creek in the district final and then cruised to the finals.

That Lafayette team was a very, very good basketball team. Minnifield was un-real and could handle the rock so well.

The 1985 Hopkinsville team lost to Christian County 72-69 in the 8th District title game, then beat CC 56-55 in the 2nd region title game. They then beat Greenup County, Paintsville, Oldham County, and Clay County to win the state title.

Edmonson County in 1976 (?) was a district runner up.

 

Bo Davenport was the only coach in KY to have never won a district, but won the State.
