Yes he was. Crazy enough one his most memorable games for me was a game he didn't dominate statistically but one he dominated with his heart. The Bell County playoff game in 2009. I'll never forget that game as long as I live. How he kept getting up is beyond me but he carried Boyle County to victory that night because he refused to lose. It was something to see.

In 2004 Boyle County lost to Highlands in the finals. In a postgame interview an emotional Brandon Smith tearfully took the blame for the loss and apologized to his teammates and community for not bringing home state championship #6.

 

I'll never forget that either. Brandon Smith has always been one of my all time favorites at Boyle County and I don't think any Boyle County football player ever had the pressure placed on them that Brandon had. He went through a lot for a high school kid and looking back on it he went through a lot more than a high school kid should have to endure. At the same time I imagine that all that he went through back then shaped him into the person and coach he is now.

Kalen Ammons (Franklin County) I believe Beaumont from Male one that year. Ammons was a 4 year starter who put up big numbers. Playing for a big school won him the award.

Yes he was. He's easily in my top 3 favorite Boyle County football players of all time.

Chris Redman would of won it any other year but lost it to Alexander. He was putting up all kids on numbers and was nationally sought after. Later of course he was drafted before Brady and he did get a SB ring
