Don't know anything about Bath, but was impressed with the smash mouth football BC played against Harlan. Bracken has impressive size and could be a load for many smaller, moderately talented 1A schools. See them being very competitive against the Ludlow, Dayton, Bellevue programs. Speed backs that just need a crease and vertical receivers that can gain separation will be very problematic for the Bears. Very young program with generally inexperienced high school players definitely on the rise. Youth program in the community beginning to contribute players with skills. Could see this program progressing substantially in the future if this staff can be kept in place.

Bath County is very quick across the board on offense and defense. Bath County's offense is beginning to click averaging 42 points per game in their 2 wins. The margin over Morgan could have been much larger as the Wildcats put up 37 points and hit the running clock by the 8 minute mark in the 2nd quarter and began to sub the rest of the game at many spots. Bath County won last season 41-0 with a running clock. Although I do not expect a running clock this season I do see a win by a couple of scores.

Harlan's 47.5 average came against 2 teams that have combined to go 0-6, given up 233 points combined and only scored 31 combined. Add that to the 4-5 hour trip on Saturday morning for Harlan and that may be a little fools gold. But I will say Bracken does look to be improved from last season. It should be a good game.

They stayed in georgetown on Friday night, so only had to drive about an hour and a half-ish on Saturday morning.

 

Also, Bath has wins against teams that area combined 1-6, so there's that.

Will definitely be a test for my beloved Polar Bears. Bath Co had early and often success in last seasons match up in Owingsville. I think Bracken took a lot from that game and it was one of those games that has made them a better team this season

The new AP poll has Bracken County at #11. With Brossart at #10, Harlan at #9, Nicholas County at #6.

I feel very confident in saying Bracken Co. is the superior team to Harlan. Harlan has almost no passing game and their ground and pound was not able to match Bracken's size. BC's win 20-7 was no fluke.

FWIW, Cantrall has Bath as 10 point favorite. Litkenhaus has Bracken Co. as a 4 point favorite. Looks like this game could be very competitive. This could be a season shaping game for the Polar Bears.

Tuff call for this game, Bath's 2 wins are from 2 really struggling programs, Fairview destroyed Bath in basically 1 quarter.

 

If Bracken has improved as some are saying this is a very winnable game for them.
