cardinalsvoice Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 I know that Lone Oak has won big time the last couple of weeks over Ballard Memorial and Murray High but they are about to step up competition big time this week against Marshall County. I was very impressed with the way they played against Mayfield...especially their offense. Their defense was supposed to be their strong suit...but their offense...especially Alan Williams #5 really impressed me and the rest of the Cardinal faithful. Lone Oak has to find a way to stop him...but Barga their QB can also hurt you if you pay too much attention to the running game. No dissrespect to the Purple Flash but I have to say Marshall County goes to 3-0 on the season. Marshall 28 LO - 14
Toothpick Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 After some thought, this could turn out to be a very interesting game, LO has played the = of Graves Co Middle School the first two weeks but this team appears to be very dangerous and granted I think Marshall is vastly deeper they must guard against a letdown after beating Mayfield which must have been a emotional win and LO has never exactly put the fear of God in many football circles but Haskins is a sly old devil and he may not always win but he is known for always having his teams well prepared. In the end I think the lack of bodies will hurt the Flash late in the game as they just have to many going both ways. 1 message to all Flashers, DO NOT TRY AND ARM TACKLE WILLIAMS!
go purple flash Posted August 30, 2006 Author Posted August 30, 2006 Don't worry about the purple flash arm tackling # 3 Williams. Watch #23 Tucker & #31 Hobbs & the rest of the purple flash defenders. Tucker knows how to tackle Just ask any team the Flash has faced. I personally see it being a very close game. The letdown factor could possible come into play. Last year Lone Oak gave Marshall Co quite a battle for 18 minutes but fell apart just before the half ended. Lone Oak is a much improved team & has a high potent offense & a stingy/scrappy defense & the good new for next year is almost everybody is back (19 starting positions return). Upset special Lone Oak 24 Marshall 21

Upset special Lone Oak 24 Marshall 21 Looking at Lone Oaks' schedule, I would put Marshall County at the top of the list of teams they are going to play this season, even Fort Campbell. Marshall is just that good, all I can say is be ready, :scared:
go purple flash Posted August 31, 2006 Author Posted August 31, 2006 Marshall County & Ft. Campbell will definetly be the two toughest opponents on Lone Oak's schedule this season. I think Lone Oak will have a real good shot at beating Caldwell Co (away) & Trigg Co (home) & should win the rest of their games. Good chance of finishing 8-2 or 7-3 this season.
LeatherFace Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 I've been holding my cards on Lone Oak up till after this game. I know they are good, but a win over or a close thriller against Marshall would tell the tale. :thumb:
Frankdawg Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 Come on, Lone Oak's beaten Ballard and Murray? 2-0's a decent start, but I expect Marshall to remind everybody why their 4A and Lone Oak's 2A. Marshall 30ish Lone Oak 7
westsider Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 Marshall County is a big step up from Ballard Memorial and Murray. While I won't be surprised if Lone Oak goes 7-3, I doubt that they will be much of a threat to the Marshals.

Upset special Lone Oak 24 Marshall 21 I think you will have a new respect for Williams after Fri, he is a real hard runner. I agree, you guys did give the Marshall's quite a battle til arounf the half I understand the LO noseguard dropped out of school, forget the kids name, he lives in Graves County
cardinalsvoice Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 I have been able to see the game that Lone Oak played against Murray as the local cable system here has been replaying that game...although without sound...this past week. After watching that game I noticed that Murray was able to move the ball some with Wilson in the game for Murray, but then after he got hurt Murray had no one to carry the ball or pass the ball. And while Lone Oak will be determined to try and stop Williams in the run I think teams will forget about the pass against Marshall County and Barga is a good enough QB to hurt you with the pass...as if you try and blitz he does a very good job of dumping it out in the flats to Williams or the Goins kid. While Williams is the stud for Marshall County he is not their only weapon...and while I have alot of respect for Coach Haskins and the turnaround the Flash have made...the Cards defense had a tough time stopping Williams and from what I saw on film I would have to rate Mayfield's D ahead of Lone Oak at this point. The letdown factor is there for Marshall County but if they can avoid that then I think Marshall wins this one pulling away in the 2nd half by at least 2 td's. Good luck to the Flash the rest of the season and I hope that you get the #2 seed in the playoffs and get to host a first round playoff game. I see a great season for your team...just will have a hard time against Marshall on both sides of the ball.
spartan18c Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 This one will be close. Marshall 24-21 over LO
