Why aren't guys like Colin Kaepernick protesting these shootings? It happens so much more. Isn't this worth the time and effort? Isn't this a worthy cause? Where's the anger for no one talking about these victims?

People talk about these issues everyday. People fight these issues everyday. The media doesn't cover it.

I've said this before in response to this fair question.

 

The difference is that we EXPECT criminals to be criminals. Criminals have no status or power.

 

We do not expect ANY police officers to commit criminal acts. Police are rightfully respected and have a lot of power over our lives.

 

If one believes that the power of society is too often getting away with crimes against a group without any power then he may choose to stand up on their behalf despite the arrows that come flying his way.

 

As PP92 said it's a myth to think that no one in Chicago is trying to work on their own local problems. Just because the news crew isn't showing up doesn't mean that the community organizers , church leaders, and other concerned citizens aren't trying to solve the issue.

 

So to me it's a simple answer. He's standing up with a group that he belongs to that feels the power structure needs to be challenged.

In addition, why does NOT standing up for one problem invalidate him standing up for another?

However, like the guy in the video basically said, unless it's a police officer (especially white) shooting a black man, it's much ado about nothing to people of that community. No Kaepernicks protesting anywhere, no media coverage, no discussion on this board. PP92, I simply don't hear enough people talking about it. I see no real outrage over it. There are far too many innocent people being killed in these shootings. Children under 10 years of age at times. So, like I said, it doesn't get talked about near enough. Not near enough is being done about it. No celebrities deem it a worthy enough cause, at least none that I have seen or heard. Why? I simply don't understand the lack of caring or empathy for those that have to live in this hell.

You aren't looking in the right places I guess. I've seen and heard hundreds of athletes in my lifetime speak out on it. I've heard hundreds of celebrities speak out on it in my lifetime. I've heard hundreds of rap songs speak out on it in my lifetime. Do you like rap? There are hundreds of rap songs that will explain black on black violence to you and answer all of your questions. Movies, books, documentaries..... The information is out there you just have to go find it. Mainstream media doesn't care about black on black violence and nobody in America cared about black on black violence until BLM came out.

I'm asking why they don't probe more into it like they do police shootings. Why they don't dig for answers. Why they don't think an innocent 7 year old girl being gunned down by lawless criminals isn't worthy of as much air time as a black man that fought a white police officer and was shot. Not enough money in it for them. Simple answer.
