So if Fleming Co had finished the game at Greenup and won they would be Top 5 in 3A? They are #7 as it is.

It is a pointless system. It can cause a stir with fans and false hope to teams. When teams get a running clock they take their studs out. Only thing its good for is it causes discussions and debates.

 

Similar, unfair poll is Maxpreps. It hurts teams. When Trinity wins but score is close (due to Trinity taking foot off the gas) they can drop 60 spots.

 

Only poll to look at is standings in district play. When playoffs come everyone is 0 and 0.

Proof these ranking are a joke.

The LIT has South Warren at #10 in 4A.

 

I'd say that has a lot to do with Greenwood being ranked #11. The LIT has no love for the Gators...

 

I personally don't put too much stock into these rankings. I like to see them and debate with others a little, but any rating that can't rank out-of-state games isn't complete. Surely with some homework this could be accomplished with today's technology...

These ratings are better fir basketball due to many more games fed into rating. It uses victory or loss margin added to teams you've played rating. Once you combine those and divide by the number of games played gives the rating. Running up the score will increase your rating. Not very accurate begining of season but gets better as more games played.

As the season moves along these computer ratings tend to get things aligned better. Three games with many mismatches don't give the computers or the "experts" much to go on.
