Purple adoptee, be careful what you wish for. I'd much rather be destroying every opponent on the schedule than losing to Owensboro Catholic. Enjoy this time. Savor every single play.

 

As for this game....I honestly thought OHS could possibly make it a game for a bit. Before people get all upset at me over saying that, coach Jay Fallin actually said that exact same thing in the Messenger-Inquirer on Saturday. The good news is, coach Fallin recognizes it and that is the first step to fixing it.

 

From top to bottom I think OHS isn't that far removed from BG from a shear talent standpoint. BG has a massive advantage at QB which drastically opens their playbook up. OHS may not have a deangelo Wilson at WR but they have some speed in their own right in Raishwan Washington and Trevor Washington. OHS will need to show trips to get some BG defenders out of the box to open up a lane for Landon Board. If BG still stacks the box, hit the quick screen.

 

OHS will struggle to stop BG at all on defense. I do think OHS will continue to improve on defense as the season moves along considering that the youth of OHS.

 

As for Friday, I hope OHS can be competitive but I just can't see it with all the mistakes.

D58, this is a great post! I do think most Purples fans including myself are pretty tipsy on Purple kool-aid at this point. I mean they have lost crazy few games in the last 6 seasons. But to bring my chalices back out; Owensboro still leads the all time contest vs BG (I couldn't find it exactly, but it is near 35-33-2 for O. I love this rivalry. I love coming to Rash. Great, Proud Program.

I think Owensboro can make a game of it, but they MUST control clock and you have GREAT insight in how to do that with the trips for Board runs and if BG stacks the box throw EASY passes. Even if it doesn't work well it will keep BG guessing to a degree.

Love Coach Fallin's humility, sign of a coach who understands you learn through experience and he is getting that now. Hang in O fans.

Concerning talent, I think D58 is correct. Owensboro is the only school I know that has beating BG consistently at the lower levels right now (you can say South Warren, but I see that changing this year). Their 7th & 8th grade teams last year would have won the middle school tourney, but O makes a BIG mistake by not letting their kids play there. Now does that relay onto the big Friday night field? That remains to be seen. What I'm saying is don't sleep on O because they have kids that can play at the lower levels who will be on the big field in roughly 2 years. Keep an eye on Imonte Owsley. He is special. But I want Owensboro good. And I want Warren Central good. And ultimately I think Owensboro is still there they just have to keep the faith and keep playing hard. For Dragon fans it's a longer road, but if you can get some real administration help (I vote for @DragonFire for Warren County School Board King, no other representatives needed!)

 

I like Owensboro's receivers, they are not Jahil Barret good today, but give them time. As for Deangelo Wilson, he does not get the recognition he deserves. Yes, he was 1st team AP All-State last year and will be again this year. There will never be another Nacarious Fant. But if there is a #2 WR for BG, give me Deanglo Wilson every time. Still the best catch I have ever scene live.
