Can anyone in Class 3A beat Belfry? What will we learn from Lexington Catholic this week? Will Central start an argument about their position this week? Will Russell take their game up a notch this week? Who could move after Friday? Who is going to move this week?

I have a hard time believing that anybody will beat Belfry this year. I can see that Corbin and Central will be their biggest competition this season. If the Pirates can stay healthy for 15 games, they'll win 3A again!

The only possible stumbling block to the state championship game is that Belfry would have to travel to Corbin in the state semifinals. I'm not sure it would matter, but road games can be tricky.

Belfry has lost more home playoff games over the last several years than on the road. Not counting state championship games, which are on neutral site, Belfry's last road playoff loss was in 2005 at Russell.

 

If you go back to 2003, the year that Belfry really started this run of success they have been on, their playoff record has been 51-8. Take away their 5-4 record in state championship games and that leaves a record of 46-4 in the first 4 rounds either home or away.

I can see Bardstown entering the Top 10. They have been down the last few years but beat a good Spencer County team in week 1. I dont see them challenging a Belfry or Corbin though.
