The birds looked really good sophomores Grady Cramer and Cooper schwalbach connected for a 55-yard touchdown.

Down south they don't have such rules because they would never get any practice or games in. I understand it has good intentions but it's crazy to call a game because it's too hot, simply add more water breaks. We wonder why kids are turning into whimps these days.

And then a kid passes out and we all complain is it worth it.

Not sure of others but Georgia has those rules in place. Of course it took 8 deaths in 30 years to get it implemented. I don't think it's worth the risk, even if we did turn out wimps which I think has zero to do with it.

Not to be flippant but why don't you come work some football & soccer games when it is that hot and deal with all the sick kids. I am not a big fan of it but it is what it is, and if saves a kids life then I am all for it.

I understand what you're saying but I don't think it's crazy whatsoever and I played in a time that it didn't matter what the weather was. At the end of the day it's just football and our kids health is important. But we all have our opinions.

Ok I got a little carried away with the whimps comment. Not to undermine the deaths with is as absolute tragedy but in most all cases it's a preexisting medical condition or some type of medication or stimulant which is the root cause. Let's just agree to disagree.

No problem, I am just very cautious by nature.

Bottom line is that Football season starts too early and goes too long.

Make opening game the first Friday in September where it belongs and we don't have the game day suspension issues.

 

Last night in Alexandria we had lightning (with no thunder or rain) off in the distance and stopped a game in progress that was 1:32 from halftime, and didn't resume until the distant lightning completely disappeared. At some point common sense needs to prevail, but I'm sure those days are long gone.

Why don't they just start August JV games at 9:00AM? Seems like an easy call to make to avoid such a result as today.
