Campbell County Schools Will Expand Sports Complex

Featured Replies

I have only been there for soccer and track so far but that is a very impressive set up. I'm impressed that they may be able to add to it.

I understand the sentiment, but in Boone Co you have 4 high schools that have to be treated equally whereas in Campbell Co you have one high school that gets all of the attention and dollars.

Boone Co high school has many needs, one of which would be a sports complex. How about an auditorium that could seat more than the parents of the kids in the band or the drama department?

The money is spread pretty thin when you think of everything that needs to be addressed at Boone County High School, let alone the other three high schools in the Boone County school system.

I agree that it is 4 schools to 1, but it is also about 8000 students to 1500-1800 difference just in grades 9-12 between the 2 counties school boards. It is a big expense to upgrade facilities, but in the long run cost of things it needs to be done now, 5 or 10 years from now it will cost double. Build bigger for the future not lets wait and see what happens then you are kicking yourself in the rear! Money is there they just need to go after it and get the job done!

Take a few minutes sometime and Google map the schools out east like Belfry or Paintsville, or Bowling Green pick your school and look at their facilities. Where did the money come from? Its there!

Did the money come from Frankfurt? I remember driving through south, central KY on my way to Dale Hollow and in the middle of nowhere there appeared a beautiful Natatorium. I wondered how they could afford that with what was obviously a small population, relatively speaking. I surmised the money came from all over KY, especially from those areas that were fast-growing, like NKY, re-distributed by the state. I could be way off base.

But I get your point, where there is a will there is a way and it requires creative leadership to find the way.

Is that what you are saying, @All about the Kids?

Exactly Grappler, the monies get distributed all over the state, but the areas with the biggest tax bases are not seeing any of it it appears. Or it is being used elsewhere. But how on earth do these schools in the middle of nowhere have these well above average to awesome facilities and schools like Boone, Conner and Cooper have cow pastures for fields. I don't get it!

CC has the nicest sports complex in NKY.

You like it better than Dixie's? Why?

Also, someone posted above they tore down the seats at the old stadium behind the current Middle School. I thought that is where Brossart plays their games. What are they using for seating?

There were upper and lower bleachers. Uppers were above ground and in need of repair. Lowers were built into the grade of the hill, so there is not much maintenance.

Board decision to demolish upper stands, rather than spend the money. There is still plenty of seating. There is also the sides (grass) of the lower bleachers, that will hold a lot of people.

here's a couple drawings
