If you have a pretty accurate QB then nothing beats the spread offense if you ask me. Especially if you have a decent running game.

Well to be correct so we don't upset those who say the spread offense isn't really a "scheme", maybe we should call it something else. How about the pro style (which is what I will call it).

 

I love balance offenses. In the past, and I will date myself, growing up Inwould see very few offenses that would pass a lot. If a team threw 10 passes a game it was thought of as a lot. The wishbone etc. were what you would see 90% of the time. 3 yards and a pile of dust is what would be the name of the game in Fri nights.

 

To to me it is much harder to defend a pro style offense because they tend to be more balanced. When you have just a running offense se you will always have defenses with 8 etc in the box and it comes down to who has the better line the majority of time.

 

Thats why why I like today's offenses much better.

One back pro style offenses are tough. TE trips is a real pain to align to. I enjoy watching a well ran pro style. I don't subscribe to the same idea of what balance means but I get it.

 

What you're talking about also makes me think of the first chapter of Tiger Ellison's book where he talks about why they changed their offense.

 

I have no idea how transparent Mueller was but I attended a clinic he did one spring. How simple and fluid that offense was pretty crazy. I had never seen a passing game designed like it. It was pretty impressive.
