Clyde Posted August 13, 2016 Posted August 13, 2016 Not sure who won. Last I noticed it was tied at 14. CCH may have scored late to go ahead. Neither team looked sharp. Both could use another scrimmage before real games start. For CCH, AJ Mayer looked solid. Threw some really nice balls. A few he'd like to have back. Running game was OK. McGinnis had some nice runs. #24 (no roster) ran well for CCH. O-line is a work in progress as it looks like they moved two LBs (Maile and Shelton) to the OL. Ziggy looked good at RT. CCH WRs need to do a better job of catching. Cam Butler, as I've said previously, will be one of the top DLs in NKY. Camel QBs were OK. Camels had receivers open but didn't convert on it very often. As I've said before I don't know a lot about football strategies so.... I do wonder why CCH gives up the inside route so easily. Always has DBs lined up outside. Morgan will hurt them Friday in that area. First scrimmage. Looked like a first scrimmage.
Sportfan1227 Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 Camels QB 10-23 CovCath QB 7-18 Not sure why you say he was solid but camels QBS were just ok. CovCath scored on a botched punt and an int. Otherwise they did very little. Camels QB went the length of the field for both scores. I am not taking anything away from CovCath, he is a very good QB, but give our guys some credit. Kudos to the our line and D. Played very well. All in all it was a pretty evenly matched and fun to watch scrimmage. Camels much improved and it showed today.

BubbyKY Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 Very evenly matched scrimmage. The CC O line has 4 new faces and they did very well. Cov Cath was very effective with the Jet Sweep and the toss, but not so much between the tackles. CC was effective between the tackles and have some work to do on the edges. Both teams QB's did well for this being the first scrimmage. Both had some risky throws, but they also were both also able to move the ball. CC receivers (Mayer, Comer, Sandman) had some nice runs after catches.
Tig70 Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 Stats rarely tell a complete story. Exactly ! Varsity maybe completed 3 passes for CCath. For the most part Campbell had good pressure on AJ. My option CovCath looked very good under center on their last varsity drive
neilman1234 Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 It was a balanced game. Neither QB stood out. Cov Cath QB didn't throw to his left all game. Camels QB looked unsure at times but his WRs dropped some very catchable passes. Camels are playing some of their talented sophomores on defense (Lawrence, Anderson & Harrod) and they're fun to watch. Both varsity squads played each other even.
Oldtimebaseball84 Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 I had predicted CCHS would win. As usual, I was right.
oldgrappler Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 Do you ever pick against CCHS? I know you don't in the soccer forum :sneaky:
Oldtimebaseball84 Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 I never pick against "CCHS" when CovCath (CCHS) plays Campbell County (CCHS)
