Ashland vs Spring Valley (WVa) Scrimmage

Featured Replies

9:00 AM Saturday @ Putnam Stadium. Spring Valley is consistently one of the best programs in West Virginia. Last year Ashland edged the Timberwolves in this matchup. What are your thoughts and what will you be looking for? Is this scrimmage even relevant, why or why not?

Helps to find out your strengths and weaknesses. Ashland will face a very familiar face in the backfield for Spring Valley also. Mr. Brown I'm sure will get plenty of carries.

Scratch the Brown comment. Will be glad to see the Cats in Putnam. Live action against someone other then your own is relevant

I'm excited about the possibilities.

So Brown isn't playing for Spring Valley?

So Brown missed all summer workouts and all of camp and practice and is now back in time to go helmets only for the required number of practices and be ready for the first game? Sounds like he belongs the the Allen Iverson "it's just practice" club.

Glad to see you aren't making any assumptions!

Brown is back with the Cats. Won't play the first couple of games as I understand it.

Glad you recognize posts that have merit.

Ashland Varsity lost 8-0. Looked Ok on offense. Ran 20 plays passed or attempted to pass on 16 of the 20. Defense smallish and quick. True freshman at CB. Spring Valley is huge and both their tackles 74, 75 are D1 bound Tenn and Florida St respectively and are studs. Guessing both 6-7 6-8 and 300 plus pounds. Good experience for the new look CATS.

#74 (Nester) is only a Sophomore, but getting a lot of offers.

I was very pleased the the performance of the Tomcats. What has been said numerous times, our line play is what needs mots work. I don't know what they feed those boys over in Wayne co, but whatever it is, we need a truck load of it over here. Qb play, for the most part, was solid. Backs ran well and recievers caught passes. We got better as the day went on. Ratliff has the jump pass down. Adkins looked good throwing it as well.
