August 14, 201610 yr Best ham I've had in my life is the smoked ham from Moonlite BBQ. Serious good eats. I never could eat country ham, just too salty.
August 14, 201610 yr I'd take baked ham over country ham almost always....EXCEPT when I go to Wallace Station in Versailles. Their country ham & pimiento cheese panini is unreal. Never had anything bad from Wallace Station. Ever. Trigg County has a country ham festival every year. The 4-H kids produce and cure their own hams and bring big bucks at the scholarship auction. Interesting process to learn about.
August 14, 201610 yr As a devote Kentuckian, I'm ashamed to admit I don't care for country ham. Every Christmas Eve I fib to my oldman that the country ham he brought is good, when in fact I rarely try or take just a small bite. Too salty. Please forgive me. I don't eat "city" ham either. I like my unhealthy pork in the form of a good sausage, or of course, bacon.
