I took the test mentioned in the article, " Harvard implicit bias testing"...WOW........a total insult to my intelligence and a total waste of time.

Did you read the follow up studies on how they came up with their answer?

Your Result

Your data suggest a moderate automatic preference for African American compared to European American.

I took the test also.

My testing showed a preference for Black.

If you are asking what the definition is it means govt/banks/law enforcement/etc showing bias against a group. Much higher rates for loans for blacks, for example.

I understand that...........but I just don't go along with the narrative that "institutionalized" racism runs rampant in this country. In this country, such institutions such as the Oval Office, NBA, NFL, MLB, Pop Culture, etc, are dominated by the popularity of minorities. These are institutions that we as a society can choose to support, or not support. Looks like they are being supported pretty well. Does racism exist? Absolutely it does, and will never be fully stamped out, as long as ignorance exists.

I did not, but I also don't want to have to go through that test again to read that. If you can remember what it said, your help would be appreciated.

I did not.

They had three different reasons as to why the answers came out the way they did. One of which seemed to state that the brain was tricked after they switched the blacks and whites to different sides. Trying to answer quickly when the brain was going off of memory of where the answers were at before. I think that is what got me. It made the most sense to me so I didn't really look at the others. This test can't be accurate though. Not a chance. Those Harvard guys have too much time on their hands.

PP92, nice article, informative for some. All lives matter in my household and just so you know we differ in tactics but we both can agree 1,000% Black Lives Matter. I'm not blind, I see what goes on and it's not oblivious to me. Lots of problems, solutions and hard work to fix it. It's going to take ALL to make the change. Lord we need you now more than ever.

It probably isn't when you know what it's doing before you go into it. If you're actually a participant I think they have you do it in a lab under controlled conditions. But I think these tests (there are a bunch of them) are pretty interesting because it's testing your knee-jerk reaction rather than your conscious deliberation. It's not a "racism test" but an attempt to understand how pervasive implicit cultural stereotypes can be. Even black participants share them according to their results.
