I'm not saying all football players. Just that when these things happen with football players it isn't surprising. They play a violent game. A lot of them are fine. A lot (more than other sports) don't know how to turn off that switch though.

I don't think there is and it's a terrible assumption.

A media perception. People like NFL football so any news surrounding the NFL and its players is big news. So we hear a lot more about NFL players who have a brush with the law. Smart phones make video footage of incidents available to a wide audience. Because they are famous, it gets passed around and then picked up by media.

 

Whereas, a guy who works at the local Levis factory who has a domestic call to his house is not noticed, except by a few neighbors. I think this accounts for why we think NFL players are more likely to do this.
