Cubs just switched Travis Wood from LF to Pitcher & Patton from Pitcher to LF -- to face Jay Bruce.

Wood gets Bruce to ground out and now switches into LF with Patton again. Patton back on the hill for the Cubbies.

I need someone to explain why he did this when he did. I understand he wanted Wood to hit third the next inning but why not leave a regular outfielder in the game until he needed to bring Wood up to pinch hit?
