June 1, 201610 yr Oh OK, well I guess if that were true they could stop it. That's how I have always felt. With all of the technology that we have and have had I find it way too hard to believe that the DEA can't stop it. The cartels are smarter than the federal government and have more resources than the federal government? I don't think so. Supply and demand will always rule the day.

Well the Democrats controlled Congress, The Senate and the Whitehouse(8 years) during the 60's...Sounds like something they'd start :lol2: FWIW there will always be more criminals than cops. You could stand border guards shoulder to shoulder the entire length of the US Border and smugglers would get drugs in either over (by plane) or under them by tunnel). The border is 1,989 miles with Mexico. Our maritime border includes 95,000 miles plus around 5,000 miles of border with Canada...hard to keep an eye on all of it. The Smugglers don't have more resources, but most of the federal resources are tied up in the military which by statute can't conduct law enforcement operations in the US. There are only about 6,000 DEA Agents plus around 4,000 staff...that's not a lot of Federal Drug Enforcement.

If they can't stop it they may as well shut down the DEA and put their money and resources elsewhere. They've been fighting a losing battle since the 60s. Folks want to get mad about freeloaders taking handouts. How much taxpayer money are folks in the DEA making yearly to do absolutely nothing?

No one in the inner cities owns boats or planes to smuggle drugs in. Someone is bringing it to them like clockwork and it will never stop.
June 1, 201610 yr I've always been of the belief that the government runs the drug trade and have been doing so since the 1960s. If they wanted to stop it they could. I could possibly see the US or the CIA b picking winners and loses with cartels. There is only so much they can control in Mexico. But we can't negate human greed. There is a lot of money in drugs , so greasing palms isn't hard to do.

Because the supplier does the heavy lifting and gets the product from China to someplace convenient for you you to pick them up. You watched Narcos, you know Pablo paid the freight to get his drugs into the country.

Just shows up worse there because of the concentration of population as compared to Eastern Kentucky or South East Missouri.

There is a lot of money in drugs , so greasing palms isn't hard to do. Exactly. The influx of drugs into America has been way too consistent for some palms to not be greased. I think it is systematic at this point. I think more situations like The Departed and Black Mass happen in that the FBI/DEA has informants from rival cartels snitching on one another to keep their businesses afloat. I also think there is a realistic chance the bad guys have federal officers that they have molded and planted throughout the government like they did Matt Damon in The Departed. It makes too much sense.

Get rid of the drugs and the killings will stop.
June 1, 201610 yr Author And you can't tell me that our government doesn't know how the drugs are getting in the country. Walmart knows what people are stealing and how they are doing it, but they sure can't stop it all...because to stop it, everything would have to be locked up and that would suck for customers. So Walmart doesn't lock everything up but tries to catch as many thieves as possible while knowing they won't catch them all. US could probably stop the majority of drug traffic coming into the US, but the US citizens wouldn't like what that would look like. They would see restrictions in freedoms they may take for granted today. So Us doesn't restrict freedoms and tries to catch what they can.
