Rank the varsity coaching jobs in the 9th region

Featured Replies

To steer the conversation on this topic away from the Conner thread and to it's own, rank the 9th region boys varsity jobs based on their attractiveness to the coach (considering all factors including talent pool, administrative support, reputation, district, location, pay, etc...).

My top ten would be:

1) CovCath - talent pool, prestige, administration

2) NCC - talent pool, almost always get out of district tournament

3) Cooper - talent pool, beautiful facilities, continues to rise in success

4) Dixie - open enrollment and huge school, great facilities, barring a tremendous surprise will almost always be in regional tournament

5) Holmes - talent pool, history of success

6) Highlands - new facilities, $$$$$$, year after year should get out of district though sometimes Newport or maybe Dayton or Bellevue might get you, but over time would be rare

7) Conner - talent pool, currently (along with Cooper) well established over the other district schools though Ryle is poised to change that

8) Ryle - talent pool, as referenced above they are back on the rise though its been a while since they have had great success

9) St. Henry - usually get out of district, but this one is tough as Coach Faust has really made this job what it is

10) Holy Cross - tough district but always a threat to make noise in All A and has had a lot of years where they have been a challenge for Holmes and/or CovCath, just not as consistent as those two programs

I like the list, I would make a couple changes

1. CovCath

2. Cooper

3. Holmes

4. NewCath

5. Dixie

6. Conner

7. Highlands

8. Ryle

tied for 9. St. Henry & Holy Cross

For about the last 8 years, Newport has been in control of Highlands. So I will have to disagree with that.

Over the last 8yrs the record for Newport against Highlands is 6 wins an 5 losses. That to me don't seem in control. An I could see Highlands an NCC over the next 5yrs or so to being tops on district.

But I like the first list posted myself!

I like your list but needs just one change: Switch NCC & Cooper.

Holmes and Cov Cath are the best two jobs in the 9th and the best two programs.

I do not have the stats to back it up (like winning percentage or regional wins). But based on what I have seen recently (the last ten years) Holmes and Cov Cath are on a different level than all other ninth region teams. If you don't believe me just look in their trophy cases. Historically, I would say these two would hold their own as one and two all time in the ninth too, but I haven't done the research. This is just my opinion based on W and L. They both get talent and they both win, a lot. I can't speak to anything else, because I am not an insider at either place. These are the best two coaching jobs in Northern Kentucky.

Tell us something we don't know. Of course Cov. Cath. is the best. They hardly have to deal with the eb and flow of talent that most schools have to endure.
