May 13, 201610 yr We might get to see California Chrome vs. Nyquist later this year. Chrome won the Dubai World Cup in March. Nyquist is chasing a triple crown. The Breeders Cup race could also include Beholder. http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-california-chrome-southern-california-20160512-story.html
May 13, 201610 yr I'll wait. Every time I start getting excited about BC matchups they start dropping out left and right. Would be a nice matchup though.
May 15, 201610 yr I'm just excited about that West Coast swing Chrome is going to take. I'd love to actually go to Santa Anita and Del Mar someday. Should be a nice string of stakes races out there in the late summer and fall.
May 20, 201610 yr Author Just read an update that it looks very likely we'll have Chrome, Nyquest and Runhappy in the $12 million Pegasus.
May 20, 201610 yr The $12 mill Pegasus is new to me. Just read up on it. Interesting to see if it gets all the big names, or maybe Chrome versus a bunch of buy-in horses. On another note, I'd like to see Beholder, Songbird & Tepin hookup. Tepin has been a grass miler, but she's dominating that group, seems ready for another challenge?

I love the idea and really enjoy the idea of the world's richest race being here in the United States, at least for a year until the guys in Dubai undoubtedly raise their stake again. With $12 million out there to be had, it seems like it might attract an impressive group of horses.

Fingers (and toes) crossed.
May 20, 201610 yr The Pegasus $12 million had an entry fee of $1 million to get into the race. They filled every spot and it was actually oversubscribed. This is an interesting race in that the owners can sell their spot (Reddam Racing has already offered their spot for sale for $2 million so we may not see Nyquist) if they wish, put another horse in it or lease it. Also, All entrants will not only be competing for the world's largest purse, but they will also share equally in 100% of the net income from pari-mutuel handle, media rights, and sponsorships from the Pegasus World Cup, according to The Stronach Group announcement. The group of owners purchasing starting spaces are Frank Stronach, James McIngvale, Sol Kumin and James Covello, Coolmore, Reddam Racing, California Chrome LLC, Daniel Schafer, Jerry & Ronald Frankel, Starlight Pegasus Partners, Reeves Thoroughbreds, Jeff Weiss & Rosedown Racing, and Ruis Racing.
