April 12, 201610 yr John Stossel ~ Libertarian Presidential Forum - YouTube Many of you have expressed an interest in voting Libertarian this election. The attached You Tube video is the first Libertarian debate. I figured this would interest many of you.
April 12, 201610 yr Author I really like Stossel. I do too. There is a video of him debating with Anne Coulture(sp?) the legalization of drugs that was very good.
April 12, 201610 yr I watched this debate on Fox Business News I believe. While I'm closer to their collective positions than I am traditional Republican or Democrat policies, none of the three were super impressive. They're each a little weird. The Libertarian cause needs someone prominent (and potentially electable) to represent that line of thinking before it will get any more attention.

More impressive than anything on the Republican side and certainly more than on the democratic side. I used to think Gary Johnson was out there but now admit he looks to have been a very good governor. Certainly prefer him over Bernie, Hillary or Trump.
April 12, 201610 yr I watched the first chunk of it and skipped around to some other questions. McAfee sounded the best to me. I just get the vibe from him that he's a bit out there, though. :lol2: I know the most about Johnson, but I remember him being a little better of a speaker. He seemed uncomfortable here. I think his best strength is his pragmatism coupled with his record of being an effective governor. He can speak more specifically and sensibly on governing than his opponents (including those in the Republican Party). The Peterson guy...not a fan. He seemed energetic and was a more polished speaker, but the rigid adherence to dogma is a major detriment with third-parties. I imagine each night he reads the two books on his nightstand - his Bible and von Mises - then says his prayers, to which author I'm not certain.

About Austin Petersen, I get no sense that he is of the religious right or has any conflict between what he may believe religiously and what he believes from the standpoint of economics. My impression is that he understands his "dogma" is something he will have to compromise, to a reasonable extent, to be an effective President. So I don't understand the nightstand comment. He's a social liberal and a fiscal conservative, pretty much the definition of a Libertarian. His slogan is "Taking over Government to leave everyone alone." I happen to like that he holds the party line. He sounds like he's studied Ron Paul quite a bit. Do I agree with everything in his platform? Not at all, but I relate more to him than anything either of the 2 major parties have to offer, right now. Obviously, he's my choice, but I am not a Florida delegate.
