You would have to revamp the districts. If such a move would eliminate a dist loser from advancing to a regional, I would be in favor of it. That is the one thing I dislike about the current playoff format.

The class system works very well in Ohio and West Virginia and it doesn't appear that there is a loss of revenue. Holding onto tradition is good but, in this case, a mistake. If we can have six classes in football, surely two or three in basketball, where there are many more schools participating, makes sense.

 

 

 

Wva tourney makes no where near the money that Ky does, and having gone to both the Ky and WVa tourney ever year that they are on opposite weeks and watching a lot of WVa. basketball I can 100% that the class sytem they have makes the basketball over there horrible.

 

They have 1 team every 3-4 years that can could compete in the 13-16th region much less our state.

 

But they have had Huntington High the past couple of years

If they wouldn't have a commissioner for every sport and assistants for each commish, they could save a tremendous amount of money. Probably the most ridiculous expenditure that they made was the taj mahal that they built for their offices. If you went to class systems for hoops then the poor KHSAA would have to live in a "lower class."

When Damon Bailey's Bedford North Lawrence team played in the Indiana finals at the Hoosier Dome, more than 40,000 people watched. That was one of the last years before they went to a class system. Now, the Indiana state tournament plays in front of a half-empty Conseco. Going to a class system is a smashingly bad idea.

:thumb: KY boys High school basketball would never be the same if it went to a class system. We only need 1 State Champion not 4 or 6.

I believe the KHSAA does a fairly good job in a system that no one appreciates.

As soon as you water it down, you will have the crowds stop coming. I don't want to water down the Sixteen Sweet, but I do think the All "A" is great for the small schools, but even there, I have read some complaining about some of the small schools being too big.

 

LBBC what are the crowds in the All "A" running? Are they averaging around 12/16 thousand per sessions for the All "A", and not just for the championship game?

 

I hate that it is all about money, but if you want to have Cross Country, Track, Swimming, Golf, etc. State Championship, you need somehow to pay for all this, and the Sweet Sixteen does pay for all of this. If the tradition changes, will you guarantee to the KHSAA the money to continue all they do for the other non revenue sports for both the boys and especially the girls?

Not sure on the crowds and my comment on $$ is more align with what you say here at the end than what the other poster on $$ said.
