Emmanuel Lamur to move on from Bengals - Signed with Vikes

Featured Replies

This doesn't hurt.

Agreed, only played 38% of snaps. Nice role player, nothing special.

I agree it doesn't really hurt but no Tez the first three games and probably no Lamur.

I wonder about our depth at LB.

The Bengals usually only have two backers on the field at a time. As long as they sign Vinny Ray back, I think they are also counting on the TCU backer step up. So the depth should be OK once Tez is back. Obviuosly they will add or draft another one though.

I realize we end up in a lot of two LB sets but I think that is just as much a function of our deficiency in versatility at the LB position as it is the team wanting to do it.

Think about it this way, what LB's currently on the roster can play all three downs? Vinny can but we all know Vinny is a backup.

Like you fc, here is to hoping that PJ Dawson from TCU is kick tail. He certainly appears to have great instincts.

Even when Mike Zimmer was here they basically only used two linebackers mostly. Even when we had Harrison here we didn't use him much. It's also why I think the Bengals rarely focus on linebacker in the draft or free agency because the Bengals don't value linebackers that high as other positions because with their philosophy they know they only have two on the field usually.

I do agree that our drafting and signing of LBs has always seemed off the beaten path.

For whatever reason, I don't think the Bengals are that good at it. We got lucky with Tez.

I do agree with that.

Signed with the Vikes.

Former Bengals linebacker Emmanuel Lamur is signing a contract with the Minnesota Vikings and will reunite with Mike Zimmer.

The Cincinnati Enquirer is reporting that Lamur will sign a $6 million deal for two years with $2.2 million guaranteed.

Vikings got a pretty good linebacker.

Bengals will miss him. Wishing him luck in Minny!

I don't see the Bengals missing him at all. He basically brought nothing to the defense, he was suppose to be a guy who could at least be good in pass coverage and he wasn't good at that. He was decent on special teams, however they have some younger guys they have drafted that can fill into that role. It won't hurt losing him.

Lamur was the Bengals nickel linebacker.

He was the backup nickel linebacker to Vinny Ray once Tez was back and Vinny was no longer starting.
