Leslie County will face Mercer County at Noon on Wednesday.

 

Whitney Creech had 51 points in her final high school game.

I went to the game. Leslie County was just too balanced for Jenkins, who relies on Creech to do most of the scoring. It's not that her teammates didn't attempt shots, but they made very few. And it sounds like the Lady Eagles didn't do a good job guarding her, allowing her 51 points, but actually they did. They made her earn every point. She's simply difficult to keep in check, very clever with her offensive moves, and gets to the foul line a lot, where she's a 90% shooter.

Leslie hit a quite a few treys, moved the ball well, and did a good job attacking the basket.

Jenkins beat them in the All A region but tonight was a different story.

Damn, was hoping to seeing her next week. :banghead:

Joe B Hall was at the game tonight. I suppose he has heard all the ruckus about Whitney Creech and wanted to see for himself. Even in a loss she still put on a show. WKU got a good one with her in the fold.

Congratulations to Leslie County. I was wishing for Jenkins to win the region so I could see them at state tournament. Congrats to Creech on a Historical high school career.

I don't have her career totals but it's north of 5000 pts. Here is what is on KHSAA for this year:

FWIW...they had another girl (Stambaugh who did avg. 9.5 ppg).

 

Creech's 1660 pts on the year would be a FANTASTIC career total for almost everyone else. I wonder if she will be able to get her shots at the college level? She's not a 3 pt shooter.

I agree with you on the next level being more difficult for her getting her shots. But she's very clever with her offensive moves and seems to wedge through gaps in the D with ease. She can stop on a dime and go straight up with her jumper, which is textbook form IMO. She also uses the Euro-step effectively on many of her drives, but was called for walking once in the Leslie game on that move.

But the D-1 college level is a lot different from high school and all the things I mentioned above that she does with ease in high school will be 20x more difficult to succeed with in college. Plus I'm not sure of how strong a defensive player she will be at the next level because she wasn't allowed to play very intense in that area for fear of foul trouble. Being the star of the show she had to be in the game and not on the bench for them to succeed. I heard one reason UK didn't show much interest was because they had concerns about her defense, but I don't know if that's fact or not.
