Head says Montgomery, heart says Augusta.

Montgomery Co - starters avg. 6'3" with tallest Combs a 6'7" senior center.

Augusta starts 5 guards avg. 5'11 3/4" with tallest C. Snapp a 6'3" senior.

Size favors MoCo by over 3 inches per starter and with that has to go rebounding advantage.

Lit favors MoCo by 8.1; LexHerald favors MoCo by 6.1; Maher favors MoCo by 3.1 (all pre-tourney ratings and do not include any homecourt advantage. BGP favor Augusta giving them a Regional rating of 3 vs. MoCo. 4.

Three of 4 experts favor MoCo.

Five Common 10th Region opponents and results.

MoCo wins..... Mason +13, PC +31, +7

MoCo losses....Scott -2; Mason -9; CC -3; Paris -2, -1, -8

Augusta wins...Mason +2; Scott +9, +1

Augusta losses...CC -20, -3; Paris -5; Mason -11; PC -6

MoCo and Augusta both split with Mason; MoCo has 2 wins over PC, while Augusta has a loss in only game played; Augusta has 2 wins over Scott, while MoCo has a loss in only game played; Augusta has 2 losses to CC while MoCo has a loss in only game played; MoCo has 3 losses to Paris by total of 11 pts, while Augusta has a 5 point loss in only game played.

Record to date against common opponents is a push with no distinguishing difference.

MoCo... Off. Avg. 65.7

...........Def. Avg. 60.3

Margin............... 5.4

Rebounds........... 31.1

Augusta Off. Avg... 66.8

............ Def. Avg.. 58.0

Margin................. 8.8

Rebounds............. 25.5

Predominantly differing schedules make these stats almost irrelevant.

Wish I had current shooting stats, unfortunately Panthers are not current on KHSAA website and I don't have access so my conclusions are arguably valid?. Following the weekly data all year, Augusta generally either led or was close to the top of the 10th Region in all shooting stats, while MoCo is solid from the floor (47.1%) and 3 range (38.5%), while struggling from the line (62.7%).

Shooting advantage to Augusta.

Homecourt edge normally would go to MoCo; but entire A-town will be there, and suspect Mason and Paris might even get on the train. At least we hope. Might be a stretch, but I'm calling this neutral.

Absolutely love Caswell Fuller and he scares me to death. But, the heart of the Augusta Panthers is beyond description. They will not quit and have found a way to win when other teams would have folded.

Augusta has 83 students in 9-12, which includes 47 boys. Montgomery Co. 1,390 students which includes 719 boys.

The River to Rupp story continues. Going to be a Classic. Panthers by 3.

Data correction

Augusta can SHOOT from ANYWHERE. I see them hitting enough huge shots to beat MoCo by 5.

I have a feeling Augusta's illustrious 5 year run of talent ends tonight. Can't let your emotions cloud your vision. I know Augusta wants this more which is why I hope they can pull it off.

Poor decision to sit Augusta and Montgomery Co fans on the same side).

I wonder who will sit together tonight? Should be the school with least amount of fans on same side as school with the most fans.

That may be easier said than done. Semi final night more fans for all 4 schools will show up. I expect a good crowd tonight. Even some casual fans will probably make the trip. Some good matchups to watch.

You are correct, but in my opinion that would be Paris/Moco on one side and Mason/Augusta on other.

As history has shown us, Augusta fans arrive early and in large numbers. Seating will be interesting to say the least.

That would be my though as well, but for these match-ups I doubt it will make as much difference.

Saturday you had two schools that brought huge crowds on the same side while the other two schools brought a smaller crowd (Pendleton) and a tiny crowd (Scott)

Today the likely two biggest crowds will be Augusta and Montgomery, and they play each other, so they're automatically opposite. I expect Mason Co will bring a bigger crowd than Paris, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's close as well.

You could just put all the orange on one side and all the blue on the other.

Can't put Augusta and Mason County on the same side. Also have band and pep sections to think about.

Educate me please.... why is that? Honestly have no clue.
