I have a much more robust rationale as well, but being a whistle-blower isn't my style.

Facts are these, this team has had two consistent scorers all season. The points off the bench are from a freshman, who needs more experience and maturity. Defensively he needs to learn and get stronger.

 

Had you actually been in the gym last night, you would have realized all this.

 

It's hard to beat any team with only 2 consistent scorers. When the other two (3/4 leading scorers) both have an off night, then there has to be someone to step up. Adams shooting, while good, has almost exclusively been outside open looks this season. Evident from FTA. He isn't a slasher, not a driver. When well defended, as he was last night, he struggles.

 

I feel confident in saying Coach Perry has a better knowledge of his athletes, their strengths and weaknesses, and what his game plan should be. Not you. No one can dispute this team was successful for the last two years. Facts are 3 of the best teams in the region were in the same district. One wasn't going to make it. Elliott had a distinct advantage on their home court. They also have more consistent scoring from a larger number of athletes. Spencer was held to 8 pts, but there are four other kids to make up for that. Morgan didn't have that luxury.

 

Everyone in KY seems to be couch coaches. You can't know, if you haven't been in every practice and game what the situation was.

Lots of good points there. I probably am extrapolating too much into this single game, but it's hard to dispute the results of the last 11 years (23% win % in district tournament play). One would have to assume that the next 11 years will look very similar unless a change is made. That's all I'm saying.

It's all about the athletes that cycle through. The run Morgan had in the early-mid 2000s was a very good one and Perry coached them. Even won a regional title. Could have won another one or two as well in that time frame.

 

Elliott has had two very strong runs of talent. That isn't going to happen every year. Same for East and West.

 

When it's all said and done these are county schools and the talent level isn't always going to be there. Morgan was fortunate to have the best player in the region, but the rest of the team was not as complete as what Elliott, West, Boyd or Rowan have. Morgan could have won the region but they didn't. Can't be mad about that. To me, West, Morgan, Elliott, Boyd and Rowan are the class of the region. One of those five had to lose in round 1. It's kind of a shame, but that's the way it goes.

 

If Coach Perry was doing something bad to his players, you'd have a point to run him off. But I hate to see people want a coach run off because he doesn't win enough big games. No team in the 16th should feel that entitled. Ashland has the history to feel like that perhaps, but we can all see that they are not where they have been in the past. Kids seem to play hard at Morgan and have fun. Theyve won a lot the past two years. Let that be enough.

The pipeline in Morgan Co is pretty terrible. The Morgan MS admin is not very supportive of sports. Boys basketball has to be completed before Christmas break, while other teams play through February. Games that are cancelled because of weather are not allowed to be made up. Coaching the last couple of years has been questionable at best. Morgan Co HS has only one feeder school, which is hurting it worse than helping.

There could be some competition of resources at the MS between sports and academics. And when you think about it, MC churns out a college ball player, what, every 10-15 years...if ever. Much higher likelihood of academic scholarships. They could be using resources more efficiently than the HS...IDK.

HS scores are probably better because kids can drop out at that point. Not apples-to-apples comparison. How many is multiple? 3 or 4. I think I can count 4 in the last 15 years that played college basketball.

This analysis is laughable and a shot at Coach Perry who YOU, of all people, know how hard he works. You continually begrudge Coach Perry because the 03 team couldn't get to the state tournament. It is time to let go of that and be a man and take responsibility and come to terms that you and your team were selfish which lead to you not accomplishing your goal.

 

Now, 13 years later, you find yourself continuing to place blame on someone who supported you to the highest regard. Helped you become a college basketball player or do you still believe he had nothing to with that? Very sad.

 

I hope one day you wake up and realize that Coach Perry would have did anything for YOU to reach any goal and to be successful!
