Sleep Study

Featured Replies

Doing one tonight and tomorrow night at home.

I just need my CPAP repaired or replaced. The place that used to handle it is out of business and it's been 10 years since my last sleep study. I can't get anything done unless I get a new study and prescription.

All they need to do is fix my machine or pull the data card from my machine and program a new one from that. I'm willing to pay, but I don't like being taken. Too many fingers in the fire.

Thankfully, the home study is only $183 as opposed to one in a clinic, which runs about $3000.

I've seriously considered a sleep study. I never sleep well.

Rat, are you gonna get a new machine?

I was looking at some with my brother who is getting ready to do his sleep study for the first time.

My machine works well but the new ones have bluetooth and probably better controls for the humidifier.

Mine has the easy breathe/a-flex/bi-flex adjustability which is my primary concern, so i'll probably keep it 'til it dies.

Mine's about dead. I'd fix it myself, if I could get the parts. The thing is 10 years old, so I'm probably going to end up with a new one. Most of the new ones have at least the a-flex. I don't need that and go full bore out of the gate. I also don't use the humidifier.

The ones I've looked at are much smaller. That works out well for traveling.

So I'm done with the at-home 2 night sleep study. Now that I really haven't slept in 2 days, I'm really looking forward to cranking up the old box and getting a good night in dreamland.

Wife tells me I snore terribly. She says I periodically appear to stop breathing for longer than she would like (or shorter than she would like, I am thinking). Told her to video or audio it next time because I clearly can't do anything about it since I'm asleep.

Not sure if I am sleeping well, but rarely seem to be disturbed or consciously can't get to sleep. Any reason to start down this road or if it ain't bothering me avoid it for as long as I can? I am guessing once you start down the road, it's pretty much a lifetime commitment.

The "stop breathing" part is not good. As I understand it, that takes a toll on your heart.

Has anyone ever woke themselves up farting?

Well, kind of. Stomach ache woke me first, then the gas started, then.....

Never trust a fart past 50+.....I mean it!

:lol2:

You're too much!!!

No way I could use the CPAP, so I opted for the surgery.

I didn't realize surgery was an option. How were your results?

Great

I snored terribly, so much so that the wife had to have ear plugs. I could fall asleep at anytime during the day if I had opportunity to sit down for any length of time, like while driving.

I lost 50+ lbs and the sleep apnea problem went away. Gained the weight back and I snore like a buzzsaw again and am always tired.

I should lose weight again. It's a cheaper and more effective solution but I like to eat too much (pun intended).
