One word to describe Carson Williams

I'm glad that Carson is attending NKU. Seems like a great fit. This will be the one and only post that I will make regarding him.

Nearly all the comments that I see on BGP have been extremely supportive of this kid. I follow Bullitt East sports closely. If you want to see comments that could have ruined a kid read up on Derrek Willis.

I understand a parents feelings when it comes to their children. I would never say anything critical of a young person on this site. However, with the advent of social media outstanding athletes even at the high school level have become mini celebrities.

This opens them up for excessive praise and negative comments. Comes with the territory. If we raise our children right, as Yo Momma obviously has these things will only make them stronger. Just ask Derrek WIllis.

I've always had the approach that your kid only gets mentioned on here if he is good. 90% of the kids that play the game never get mentioned on this board. With greatness comes a lot of attention.

I Was never a big fan of kids reading this stuff anyway. Not sure how much my boys did when they played?

Carson is a great player, POY in the 8th. No one can doubt that. Someone tries to compare him to Larry Bird and someone has to bring out a fault or minor flaw in his game. I don't think anyone thinks he is anything short of spectacular. And this type of comment goes for almost all of the kids mentioned on BGP. If you get mentioned on here, hats of to you!! Someone has noticed your game.

I'm with this 100% but it also highlights one of my concerns about the way BGP "hype" tends to work. The kids who are truly superior get a lot of absolutely justified press here -- but face it, they're getting it elsewhere too. Then there are the kids who do something unfortunate, like getting thrown out of game or suspended from a team -- then, as a few recent threads demonstrate, they get a bit of online spotlight as well. I feel badly for the kids in the middle, the ones who score their 10 or 12 every game, maybe get lucky enough to play some small college ball, and go largely unnoticed. But I guess that's life.

Well said. The best post in this thread. The Larry Bird worshippers who never saw him play in HS would have gasped had he been compared to George Mikan 43 years ago.
