January 19, 201610 yr Author @nWo, when does it appear this storm is going to start? Is it overnight Thursday into Friday morning, or during the day Friday? It wasn't supposed to start until Friday but as of now it looks like it may hit us starting Thursday night and last until Saturday.

You may have mentioned it Nwo, but I saw a disturbing wind speed estimate on tv. It showed potential 30+ mph winds with this storm. If that's true it ramps up the severity of this storm significantly. If I missed you already speaking on this my apologies. The threads are beginning to grow with the storm.

No I haven't mentioned anything about the wind speeds yet. I have been monitoring the pressure of the low pressure system that look to hit us this weekend. Some time on Friday it is predicted to be over northern Mississippi. The pressure is predicted to fall to around 1008 mb by then. What is interesting me is a Cat 1 Hurricane pressure is around 980 mb. So the winds will be strong.

January 19, 201610 yr Author I just looked at the European Model and it is forecasting the low to strength and the pressure to drop to around 999 millibars on Saturday. Very close to hurricane strength.
January 19, 201610 yr I feel bad for the thousands of March for Life participants headed to Washington, DC for Friday's gathering. That's a lot of bus loads of people from all over that could run into serious problems.
January 19, 201610 yr One other factor for wednesday and friday, the ground is more or less frozen at this point. Accumulation totals should be true with little or no melt off on the grassy areas. I am worried about run off next week if we have a snow event of any size friday and saturday. Hopefully we have a slow melt off when it does warm up
January 19, 201610 yr Author I will post an update a little later. People should be preparing for a major storm. I'm seeing some getting around a foot of snow from Friday to Saturday. This is not counting the snow we will see on Wednesday.
