One of the worst calls I've ever witnessed was in the Denver game yesterday. Peyton was getting pressured and he slide feet first to avoid a hit. He then proceeded to get up and complete a 30 yard pass. Worst no call I've ever seen. He clearly gave himself up.

Agree. And sadly the defense quit playing when he went down. Essentially a dagger.

Agreed... Manning definitely gave himself up... Bad call.

It was also a bad call, not that it mattered much at that point, when Ben threw backwards to a lineman on their final 4th down.

Ben was not down, threw it backwards and Broncos picked it up for what should've been a Denver TD...

Refs have missed far too many calls this season and they gotta figure a way to clean it up next season.

Maybe go through the entire rule book and simplify anything they possibly can. That'd be a start.

I saw important "missed" or "wrong" calls against every team in every playoff game this year... That's too bad.

If they're going to allow that, they can't penalize a team when they decapitate the QB when he slides feet first. He clearly gave himself up on the play.

Could you imagine if James Harrison would have laid a hit on Manning while he was on the ground? ...Flag City...

I don't think he went feet first.

It was an odd play. I think he had thoughts of staying on the ground but when no whistle blew and no one had touched him he got up to take advantage of the play.

UKMustang, if your man Brady did that you would be talking about what a smart, great, heads up player Tom Brady is. :lol2:

For the record, I thought Peyton should have retired yesterday. Pitiful and painful to watch.

Oh believe me, it was brilliant by Manning. Doesn't change the fact that he slide feet first. If a player had laid him out, we both know a 15 yard penalty would've been called and a huge fine to follow. Same as if Brady had done it.

And that's my issue with it. If all of a sudden the officials aren't going to rule these guys down when they go feet first, then defenses are going to start laying them out. And that's the last thing the league wants. All the starting QBs injured.

Looking at the video he is making a play to get away an his feet go out from under him and it looks like he goes shoulder first. Feet first means they are directly in front of him with the obvious intent of protection.

It makes no never mind to me. Manning is washed up and frankly should have retired after the Seahawks killed him. It was a bang bang play and I just don't see it the way you are interpreting it but it's okay in my book. It wasn't like it was the difference maker in the game IMO.
