Updated Maher Rankings 1/17

That's not love that's disrespect. Holy Cross can't be ranked behind 3 teams in the 9th region that they have defeated head 2 head. This poll is bias flawed.

Additionally their 4 losses are to teams that are good so not sure how they landed at #24.

I think 24 is about right for them. The issue is the rest of the teams in the 9th are way too high.

This sounds so much like what they said about the HC girls last year! Wow.

South Oldham is ranked behind Holy Cross Cov and beat them by 10. In the Lit, South beat Oldham County and yet is behind them also. This happens with all polls, which are for the fans to talk and gripe about. These polls have not bearing on getting to the regional and then they play on the court will decide the best teams.

How can Holy Cross Cov be ranked behind Cooper NCC & CovCath when they have beat them all head to head?

The general answer to this is that almost every team is ranked above someone they beat. Teams don't play to the same level every night, their performance vary night to night. If you are ranked, say, #20, you basically have a coin flip bs the teams 5 above or 5 below you. An exception to that is Etown girls this year, as they are so far ahead of #2. But back to our #20 team, their chances against #10-15 might drop to about 30 or 40% and so on and so forth.

So all mathematical rankings take into account every game. Your head to heads still only comprise 3 games. To answer this question more specifically, we have to analyze every game for the teams in question. It takes some time. This is a good question so if I have time, I will do.

Also consider this, every game is head to head against someone. If we bias the system to treat HC Vs NCC specially, then what would Brossart say.

My bad. I overlooked them. Sorry bout that

Iowa beat michigan state. Auburn beat uk, Oklahoma lost to Iowa state, Xavier lost to gtown. For those of you saying "well holy cross beat..." or Ballard lost to...are you also saying auburn is better than uk?
