January 14, 201610 yr If they shot him in the back, they need to be charged with murder. And if he did turn, made a motion and it was a legit self defense, should they go back and charge the other 2 thugs with first degree murder?
January 14, 201610 yr Cut and dry doesn't matter in this particular case. The video will either support the officer or it will say the officer was lying. Lying is a big problem and one that we've seen recently with Chicago PD in officer shootings. It then breeds mistrust of ANY officer shooting. Did I say it did in this case? I was responding to someone saying if an officer shoots someone in the back they should be charged with murder. That is simply not true. The citizens of Chicago have much more to fear from their fellow citizens than they do the police if you look at the murder rate.

You just can't have your police force being part of the problem.
January 14, 201610 yr They have a lot of problems. You just can't have your police force being part of the problem. Agreed. The mayor needs to resign as he has been called to do. He is part of the problem. Then again, Chicago has be corrupt for so long, they may not know how to function otherwise.
January 14, 201610 yr Author Video doesn't show the full picture. No idea what the victim was doing when shot. Did he stop and turn? Was he still running away? If he was shot in the back as reported it would cause some to think he was still running away. https://www.rt.com/usa/328992-chicago-cedric-chatman-video/
January 14, 201610 yr And if he did turn, made a motion and it was a legit self defense, should they go back and charge the other 2 thugs with first degree murder? Why would they charge people who didn't kill anyone with murder???
January 14, 201610 yr I was responding to someone saying if an officer shoots someone in the back they should be charged with murder. I didn't say that. I said "they", as in this specific case. There are certain situations where it could be justified. Very rare, but it's possible.

January 14, 201610 yr Just saw the video on Fox. Not a high quality video at all. Doesn't show the shooting. It's a camera that pans from left to right. It was pointing in the other direction at the moment of the shooting. The video neither exonerates nor convicts the officers.
January 14, 201610 yr And you're the authority on that? More of an authority than some, less than others.
January 14, 201610 yr Cedrick Chatman Video Shows Police Shoot Running Teen (VIDEO) - South Shore - DNAinfo.com Chicago Video shows nothing.
January 14, 201610 yr Why would they charge people who didn't kill anyone with murder??? This is why. Clarke and Odum — Cedrick's accomplices in the carjacking — each were charged with first-degree murder. In the written charges, prosecutors allege that the men "set in motion a chain of events that caused the death of Cedrick Chatman," despite being nowhere near the teen when he was killed.
January 14, 201610 yr ^I don't agree with that in any way, shape, or form. They didn't make him run from cops. They didn't make the cops shoot him. I can't imagine any jury convicting them of that. Edit: Just read about the "felony-murder rule". Didn't know about that. Don't agree with it, but learn something new every day I guess.
January 14, 201610 yr Why would they charge people who didn't kill anyone with murder??? Think Charles Masnon.
