Football? Or basketball? Haven't figured out if the Birds have changed sports yet.

They have transitioned, but they aren't going to turn into sissies because of it.

Not sure anybody has said they need to. But there is a difference between football and basketball in terms of physical play and it doesn't seem they have figured that part out yet. Oh well.

What do they need to figure out? Why is it a problem if they play a more physical style? You may not like how they play, but why should they care what you think? Do you think playing less physical is going to lead them to more wins?

I don't have an issue with how they play. I loved playing physical in the paint. The issue is that with the over physical play is that they are being called for it and people are complaining. There is nothing wrong with physical basketball but there is a right way and wrong way to play physical. Either you know how or you don't.

Who decides the right way or the wrong way to play physical? I only ask because if the coach had a problem with how they are/were playing, don't you think he'd reel them in?

Seen quite a few games and teams this season. I don't think HHS plays any more physical that some of the other teams out there. At this point, I'm thinking it's quite the opposite. Word is out that the Birds have a reputation and the refs buy into it.

The wrong way to play physical is put on a HHS uniform. The right way to play physical is the play physical against HHS.

Maybe some of the other schools should get a few of their basketball stars to help toughen up their football teams.

You would think. But when you have multiple fans of multiple teams saying the same things, then you have to wonder. Again, I love when officials let the big guys play as long as its controlled. It just appears to me that they still think its football. That is all.

So....the game.

Did Wilson get more touches? How did Finrock do guarding him? Two big boys going at it.

I get your point and don't disagree. I'm of the opinion the coach and team shouldn't care what "multiple fans of multiple teams" think about their style of play. If that's the style they want to play, have at and be the best at it.

Edit

Wrong thread.

Fair enough.

I don't think they played overly aggressive as far as illegal contact (When I saw them play HC) people are so used to seeing no big man battles at the post, that when they do see contact in the paint it is viewed as " aggressive". All you players in the stands should go to a college game and pay attention to the physical play in the paint.

Wilson finished with 22 I believe but Finfrock played well and had double help. Cain continues to play extremely well and leads the group. Posey also took good shots and had a very good game. Greene has played well of late and boy is he fast. LaFrange never got going last night but held Bertsch in check or vice versa. Neither got going. Odd note in another thread Cooper/SK; but if you would told me that Hendrix, Hawkins and LaFrange would have combined for 3 points in that much varsity action last night I would say never would happen. Those boys are either being to unselfish or not getting enough looks. In any event missed free throws and turnovers continue to plague the birds. I anticipate a few W's coming soon. Day and Clos had some good minutes for the camels. I believe Clos hit a big 3 in the closing minute.

The Camels persevered after their PG suffered an ankle injury in the first quarter. I am confident the team will strive to have less turnovers in the next game.

Sorry... Let me clarify. The point I was trying to make is that despite the turnovers the Camels found a way to win. Joel Day was huge for the Camels. Good to see some others get an opportunity to help the cause. Scored 9 in the 2nd half to give the Camels a boost. Turnovers seem to be one of the Camels achilles heels which I'm sure coaches have addressed. Last night they were spread across the entire team, not just one position.
