What positives do you see with 6 classes?

I like the way it benefits Corbin as well for two reasons. First and foremost, it puts the Redhounds back in the mountain district in which they belong. It renews old district rivalries with Middlesboro and Somerset.

Middlesboro, Corbin, and Somerset... Lord have mercy.

Did I understand you correctly? Are you saying that you feel that Whitley County is on par with the likes of Christian County, Hopkinsville, Bowling Green, Warren Central, John Hardin, Dixie Heights, Ashland and Southwestern on a year-to-year basis?

If so ... with all due respect, no way.

They were? They won only one playoff game in their last three years in 3A.

Good point Westsider.

The best part is the freedom of scheduling. Maybe some old rivalries will be rekindled that were put aside with the requirment of so many district games.

I hope you're right, but I will have to see it to believe it. I realize there are exceptions to this statement, but if a rivalry was so special, I think most schools would have found ways to keep them on the schedule.

I also think new rivalries could emerge. The recent spat of games between Trinity and Manual have been a lot of fun and the freedom in scheduling will allow that to continue for a long time, I hope. I'd also like to see more games between teams that aren't necessarily geographic rivals, but share some common bond, such as Catholic schools from NKY, Louisville, Lexington, etc. playing each other from time to time. The Catholic schools in Ohio do this a lot and those games always seem to be fantastic. The smaller districts in the new alignment are the only thing that make this possible.
