Owen Counties Bailey Young should be on this list, but didn't get to play Varsity ball last year due to the coach not letting younger players play. This kid has the best glove around both infield and outfield. Plays for one of the top travel teams around. Anxious to see if Owen Counties coach plays her this year. She should be the Rebels top player followed with another Fresman that pitches.

 

I have not had a chance to watch her but I am told her defense is outstanding.

Bailey is a very good kid as well. Really coachable and gives her full attention and 110% at everything she does. Takes the game very serious and knows every position and is ready for every play. NKY Stealers should have a great year with their talent.

Who does she play for? And I assume you mean "the best glove around both infield and outfield" for her age group?

Plays school ball at Owen County and travel ball for NKY Stealers. Has a good glove both infield and outfield, but from what I have seen she is much better in the infield. A guy from Highlands is coaching the NKY Stealers this coming season. Really good move on their part for those girls.

Katy Chadwell P Boyle Co. High. This pitcher will take the 12th region by storm in 2016. She has played mostly showcases out of state but will be a well known name by the end of the season.

Does Boyle not bring up middle schoolers to play high school?

She pitched a couple innings in the District tournament after the middle school season. But very rarely do they allow middle schoole to move up. It's just what the school has done for a while.

I agree with comments about Blane and Patterson in Region 2. I watched a lot of games in the area over the last few years. I also think anothee top freshman that should be considered for this list is pitcher/1st base Karlie Keeney-Webster County.

 

Even though Webster hasn't had a strong high school schedule in the past she still pitched over 170 innings and won 15 varsity games last year as an 8th grader. She also played travel ball last summer for a top team from Illinois. I saw where the team finished second in the 14u Kentucky State ASA tourney to eventual national champion Southern Force.

 

I know her high coach also said she pitched well in several big showcases like Scenic City and Atlanta Legacy.

 

And I have heard she is being actively recruited by several big DI schools. In my opinion, second best freshman in the region behind E. Blane from Chrisitan County. Should have an even better season this spring and summer.

Katie Gardner-P Warren East led her team to KHSAA state tournament in 2015 as an 8th grader with big wins against Mercy & Scott County. She won 5th region player of the year.

 

Katie Gardner needs to go on this list. had a really nice State Tournament for Warren East. Best pitcher in class of 2019. She was on the bottom of my notepad and I missed it. Looking forward to seeing her play this year.

 

I only saw her one time (Warren East played at NewCath in a double-header last year), but that was PLENTY to know that this young lady is going to have one hell of a high school career. She picked her spots and had a nice array of pitches (had some giddy-up on her ball). When Coach McKinney told us she was an 8th grader I about feel off my bucket.

 

Warren East will have a very SOLID battery the next 2 years with Katie Gardner in the circle and Jr. Kendall Smith at the dish. :eek:

 

BTW, they threw a 7th grader a couple of innings against us last year, Olivia Price.....not bad at all for a 7th grader, at least by NKY standards.

Bailey Conley most definitely should be on the list of top freshman, she put up these impressive stats playing at about 50% suffering from Pars Defect in the L4, she is getting stronger every day and expect big things from her this year

Mckinlee Miller from Campbell County has to be put into this conversation. She started last year as an eight grader for Campbell County in Center Field and if I am not mistaken was their lead off hitting. She also plays Centerfield for the NKY Steelers. She is a left handed hitter and may be one of the fastest girls in NKY if not the state. Lets just say, if she hits the ball on the ground, you are not getting her out.

Also from Campbell County is Jessica Walsh. She started 3rd base for the Camels last year as an eight grader and can flat out hit the softball. Both of these girls will make a lot of noise in the next couple of years and will be exciting to watch.

As someone else pointed out, it's a great discussion but far too soon to really rank because there are probably at least 10-12 private school girls who don't have the luxury of playing for their high school teams as 7th and 8th graders who still play travel ball and fit right in with the top 12 or 13 you list. It will be interesting to see your list after this coming season if you get to see them play.
