Final this afternoon at Highlands Tournament

 

Birds jumped out by 12 in the first half and maintained a pretty nice lead throughout the first 3 Qtrs leading 38-26 at one point. Liberal substituting and a "Playing to Not lose" mentality played a part in a big comeback attempt by the Cru. Not to mention some very aggressive man-man defense applied.

 

Several Birds scored 6-8 pts, nobody in double figures. Tristan Thompson buried 4 straight FT's with less than a minute left to ice it. He finished with 7.

 

Birds shot the ball very well from behind the arc and have some very nice athletes. Grady Cramer made some athletic plays on both ends of the floor. They need to get better at rebounding the ball and not staring at it while its in the air. Lack of a true big man hurts them but 4 guys watching 1 go after the ball is unacceptable.

 

Birds take on Lexington Catholic tomorrow afternoon at 1:30pm. They will need a better effort than today to beat the Knights.

I saw Campbell County walk in as a team and saw a Newport player leaving the gym earlier in the day. Not too sure though.

Australia. Wow!. That is a long drive to play in a tournament. Lol.

I think its just a round robin format. No championship game or semi finals.
