So I started reading this thread and I don't see anyone declaring SK as 8th Region champions. I do see you taking the first shot because SK lost???

I have no idea who UKLover is but aren't they entitled to an opinion? If not, then why are you entitled to one? I think its fair to ask why if you are truly looking for an informed comment vs stirring the pot.

 

So my question is how many 8th Region teams have you seen RCC9? Just curious because I want to know what you are basing your comments from.

 

As for my opinion, I thought and still think SK is in the driver seat for the 8th. I don't believe its their title but I think they control their own destiny. I also don't think SK has played good ball at all this season which is why I'm optimistic. I think the goal is to peak toward tournament time and we have plenty of room to keep going toward that direction. The good news is SK has all the necessary tools but are missing a few key ingredients that will hopefully come thru as the season goes along. They are very young and have to realize they have to show up to play every game for one. Also, need leadership to develop and to improve on the defensive end for a few others.

Yes other teams will improve but I think SK has five kids that can score and they simply aren't getting that right now. So, if they can improve on these areas I think their upside is much higher than most teams I have seen thus far so that is why I feel good about where they are at this point. I'm watching 8th graders, and primary Soph go against SR heavy teams and SK is either winning by close games or losing by close games. Once these youngster get comfortable and start playing relaxed and up to their abilities then they should be sound. By the way, very good teams as their schedule is extremely difficult and I do expect them to take loses this year.

You do realize SK barely won by 2 at home against Walton right? SK is good but far away from being a dominating team.

 

SK might have only won by 2 but Walton pretty much threw everything they have at SK and they still won. Plus Niece only had 2 points and Meier only had 8. If you think that that will ever happen again well I would have to have you committed into a mental health institution my friend. Also you are right Tiger SK is a good Team and are they dominating, not yet but they are that 1 player short right now and once Meier starts getting hers dominating might be too low of a word for that team.

 

As for SK winning the 8th there is no one in the region that can compete with them right now Walton was probably the only competition and well as I said they don't have much of anything else to throw at SK. So with 3 weeks into the season it may sound bold but I would have to agree that SK wins the 8th without a doubt.

"By the end of the season, they will be a tough out in the state tournament." That's not declaring that they will win the region with ease??? If that's not then I apologize.

It doesn't matter how many teams I've seen. And everyone has opinions correct. I'm saying it's pretty bold statement/opinion for the third week of the season to assume they will win the region and move on the the state tournament. That's bold and all I was pointing out.

SK is too deep and too talented relative to the depth and talent of others in the 8th. Walton was the team I was unsure about, but have seen them now. This is of course my opinion, so others are welcome to disagree

SK is fighting both injury and illness right now. Very difficult to access them right now because of player(s) fighting illness. Strictly on results and the three games I have seen, they seem vulnerable. Bench seems very young.

I believe some things got ironed out in Lexington and that we can expect a significant performance bump from a key contributor.
