After watching Newport vs. Brossart, I would have guessed the Bulldogs would have won by about 15+ easily........Color me shocked by this score. :eek:

They have been for the past 4 years. Past 2 years the games have been blowouts so what is your point.

Newport is tough... and that ain't no lie, and the Davis kid now should no longer be the 9th Region's best kept secret. He is solid.

 

Entering the game I expected Newport to be Snapp, Mullins and a supporting cast. Soon into the game I heard the name Davis announced, and then continued to hear it multiple times... Davis, Davis, Davis. He is truly impressive.

 

Kid's a player, and Newport can hold their own with any top team in the region without doubt. They are fiercely competitive, and like Walter said they're still without the services of two starters. Presently this just helps the guys taking their place gain experience ultimately making for a stronger bench down the road.

 

A case can be made for many teams in the 9th this season, and Newport is right up there with them.

That couldn't be further from the truth. LB13 might be a Newcath guy but he calls it how he sees it whether it's Newcath or any other team. He actually gets out and watches a lot of basketball throughout the season.

Give the Holmes kids a lot of credit. Got down as many as 16 points at one time and came all the way back to eventually take a 2 point lead but back to back turnovers and bad shots allowed Newport to go on an 8-0 run and close out the game outscoring Holmes 15-6. (Holmes led 60-58)

I think that you have a distorted view of LB13.

 

Sure he's a Breds guy because that's where he was schooled, but he always gives credit to other teams where credit is due, and he knows what he's talking about, and gets out to other games besides NewCath games.

 

Anyone paying attention knows this, so it's puzzling how you've formed this impression of him. :idunno:

I guess this is the defend Lawnboy thread now, he needs no defense, most on here respect his opinion and he is of course going to be an NC guy, his school, his daughters school and is on staff in another sport. I have saw him at many games when NC was not playing. As for the game, very exciting game and some one said they heard Davis name called all night, well I was the one calling it, didn't have to look down at roster very long, I quickly became familiar with him, very impressive. I enjoy watching Coach Snapp, works so hard for the young men. Nice night by McLendon as well. Newport very impressive. Holmes all year except the Lloyd game seems to get off to a slow start, I think the Dogs will continue to improve and Newport will be a team no one wants come tournement time. Best of luck to both teams.

It's not good to assume. :lol2: I never said ANY such thing, my comment was pretty simple, I was not impressed with how Newport played vs. Brossart......in that game many times down the floor there was one, maybe two passes, before a shot was taken. Quite a few times they DIDN'T have numbers, yet a shot was taken with NOBODY to get a rebound. I recall two times players were yelling at other players, and not in the good way.

 

All of the above are why I said they are undisciplined/or need to be more disciplined. Believe me, I'm not the only person that thinks this, and the others are NOT NewCath people.

 

I've said it in more than one thread, that this Newport team has the talent. IMO, they need to be more team focused, and if they can they will be a very dangerous team come late February.

 

BTW, their pregame lay-up line resembles NewCath's from the last 3 or 4 years.......dunk after dunk after dunk.....it's pretty impressive.
