The following is my opinion and I realize it can't be the staff's opinion and that many will disagree.

 

CVH went to the rim on a breakout and got hammered by an X kid. Not a cheap shot but it was a HARD foul that COULD have caused injury. CVH certainly didn't like it. He then hammered him later on a jump shot.

 

I was disappointed to see no one respond in an appropriate way to let the young man know that no one on the Colonel team is fair game. I'm not saying the kid has to be punched. I'm not saying he has to be hurt. I'm saying he has to be shown that it's unacceptable. Again, I fully realize I'm in the minority on this.

I did not see the play; but, we all know it is the reaction that always gets penalized. Wasn't the best response the complete beatdown of a 27 point victory while keeping cool, keeping all players in this game and next, and CVH taking care of business in the right way?

As I said , my opinion is not expected to be shared by many.

If Jake Walter stared me down and set a hard screen on me after I fouled CVH, I'd stop fouling CVH.

I don't disagree that a player on Covington Catholic should have made the point with a strong verbal warning to the kid that you cannot foul our best player and get away with it. I assume people know what I mean when I say strong verbal warning but I'm not surprised that didn't happen. Kids from 2 private schools are probably a little too pampered to realize that one of them should have stepped in and said something. Remember I didn't say to put a hand on the kid and it's possible one of the players from CC did say something and we don't know.

CCH is really starting to gel and last night showed just how deep they are. No one player dominated for CCH. I think CVH ended up with 14 or so. The depth and the contributions off the bench was just simply too much for an average team like X. X had nice size and looked like they knew how to find the weight room so CCH was physically challenged.

 

However, skills and coaching took over and it got ugly.

 

Still plenty of room for improvement. Still need CVH and Flood to refine their stroke to where it can be.

 

As LB13 said the passing and ball movement have been really impressive. Plus you get the effort that is synonymous with the program.

 

I really like the team. They can go 11 deep when needed.

 

Really looking forward to Tuesday when they face a big D1 commit (big in talent and strength) when the Hurricanes from Wilmington roll in.

It's unfair to throw out "soft" at this bunch. They play hard and battle.

Totally agree! I really hate seeing kids in the state going low on players. It's uncalled for and could hurt kids chances for college.

Also the referees are a bunch of pansies! Make the call that is suppose to be made and stop all these ticky-tacky that mean nothing.

Let me be clear. No kid went low.

what planet are you from!? No kid should ever jump up into another kids face during a HS game. That's what causes major issues and unwarranted technical fouls calls, along with game ejections for what? Honestly for what?

I was there...he didn't go low but he hit low enough to make CVH think about it, because CVH has been hit low.

 

What I am saying is simple - don't hit kids like this on basketball. If you want to hit like this - let's take it to the football field.
