Bengals call Ponder, Mallett

Featured Replies

I would have thought the first call would have been to Josh Johnson, but I would personally rather have Ponder just because he fits the mold of what the Bengals want out of a QB. But either way if the back up has to play we are screwed.

JJ is a Buffalo Bill

If Dalton is able to play Week 17, I put him in immediately, even if it is just for the 1st half. After 3-4 weeks off, he'll need reps.

Maybe, but if he throws a pick let 'em score.

2 words - Mohammed Sanu

Earn the bye with a win over Denver somehow and turn Hue Jackson loose with his creative genius and Sanu as a "slash" option. It's been awhile since he QB'd at Rutgers, but he already knows the offense. Don't show it until the 1st round playoff game and then go crazy. Maybe even mislead that Dalton is ready to come back (if he's not) and have the opposition prepare for the normal package. Then spring Sanu on them!!!

Well there is a certain throwboy, that lives really close and has a super bowl ring that they could call.:lol2:

I hope you are correct, but they will have to play lights out on defense and run the ball better than they have. It isn't even close with AJ and AD. It takes 3-4 weeks for teams to get enough film to stop QB according to Pat Kirwan. He is usually correct and look how teams are figuring Osweiler already. You just don't replace a top 5 QB, which AD has been this year with a guy that has played 3 quarters of real NFL football.

They will be good enough to beat SF and Baltimore and probably be competitive with the Broncos. By playoffs teams will have seen enough an there are no gimmes there.

Agree... AJ has similar attributes to Dalton and that's why he was a great choice for back up..

But the offense will be dumbed down quite a bit imo... Because it took Andy a good year to learn what Hue was trying to do...

Could be good to dumb it down too though, because I thought there were several drives this year where Hue got too cute and it cost us.

We'll see. Kick it in gear AJ... And Dalton get better soon.

Go ahead and "roll" him out there. :thumb:

Give Campbell a call and make it worth his while to come out of "retirement".

On an unrelated note, what an opportunity for AJ McCarron. Inheriting one of the best rosters and most well-rounded teams in Week 13, with an opportunity to clinch a playoff bye and potentially compete for a Super Bowl. Backup QB's don't get better opportunities than this.
