What an absolutely horrible idea.

Yeah. They might have a panel of people select the teams that play. That would really blow. ;)

It just sounds like a power move to get a cut of all the money that is flowing through the College Football Playoff right now. This would allow them to better their chances at that. Sounds like a terrible idea and screams manipulation. Conference Championships would cease to mean anything at that point if you are able to just pick who you want to be in it.
