November 25, 201510 yr The researchers analyzed data from 2002 to 2012 and found that reported alcohol consumption in the previous 30 days rose among women, from almost 45 percent to more than 48 percent, while it fell among men, from slightly more than 57 percent to just over 56 percent. The investigators found that the average number of drinking days in the past month also increased among women, from 6.8 to 7.3 days, but fell among men, from 9.9 to 9.5 days. Binge drinking among college students aged 18 to 25 did not change during the study period. However, among those aged 18 to 25 who weren't in college, there was a large increase in binge drinking among women but a significant decrease among men. Binge drinking in men is defined as having five or more drinks on a given occasion; in women it's four or more drinks. There was only one area of drinking where the difference between women and men increased during the study period. "The prevalence of combining alcohol with marijuana during the last drinking occasion among 18- to 25-year-old male drinkers increased from 15 percent to 19 percent, while the prevalence of combining alcohol with marijuana during the last drinking occasion among 18- to 25-year-old female drinkers remained steady at about 10 percent," White said. November 25, 201510 yr Women and their wine? Women in the workforce? Numerous factors? I feel like women in my life are more likely to have a 1-3 glasses of wine on any given night. Whereas it's not often I drink much beer at all unless its Thursday-Saturday. But that's just us. Take the fiance for example, I bet she drinks more days out of the year than I, but I put I consume more throughout the year than her.
November 25, 201510 yr Thinking aloud this should take into account body weight too. I agree that body weight should be taken into consideration during the binge drinking study (i.e. 5 drinks for me is different than 5 drinks for my wife), but weight has no impact on the 1st study (the # of drinking days per month).
November 25, 201510 yr I only have a beer if the Patriots are playing, if the Bengals are playing, if Michigan football is playing, or if Kentucky basketball is playing...So other than that I don't drink unless we're out at dinner or out with friends. :lol2:

Assuming we can separate the deflators from the pretenders?
November 25, 201510 yr Does that put you somewhere in the 90 days a year range? Assuming we can separate the deflators from the pretenders? Probably about right. :lol2:
November 25, 201510 yr "The investigators found that the average number of drinking days in the past month also increased among women, from 6.8 to 7.3 days, but fell among men, from 9.9 to 9.5 days." So, what constitutes a "drinking day"? Any amount of alcohol? 2 or more drinks in a 24 hour period? I couldn't find that definition in the article anywhere.
November 25, 201510 yr I drink beer everyday. My wife now drinks wine everyday. She began this about a year or so ago. She used to drink wine about 3-4 days a week before the last year. She has a glass of wine everyday now though.
November 25, 201510 yr I've had 432 unique beers (on a real kick of trying new ones) since March Madness. If were talking total beers, I got 804 in my Untappd app but I'm sure I haven't put every repeat in. I think I'm doing my part. I know @formerkywrestler is too!
November 25, 201510 yr I drink almost every day. Honestly I'm probably around 340 days a year. The vast majority (90%) of the time it's just one or two. I've been battling a nasty head cold this week but I did have a hot toddy or two.
November 25, 201510 yr I'm going to do a sampling the remainder of the year. I'll keep track of days with a drink and days without. I'm interested to see how accurate my estimate was. :lol2:

But always check-in my new beers.
