Everyone, Including Myself loves him, ( I love his car, Well I love his main Sponser :D ).....

But He's driving good right now, with a win this year, and Some Top 5's. But is he as good as Everyone thinks?

Dale Jr is a good racer. He's just had a bad run of luck up to this season. He should have never let Mikey have Eury Jr. The team is just starting to get back into the groove.

I think a better question would be is Dale Jr. as good as the media hyped him up to be in trying to step in the shoes of his father. In that case, no.

Great way to put it and I agree with your assessment.

There are no ratings in NASCAR. How can a driver be overrated? The only thing that matters is the points standings, and he's exactly where he deserves to be right now. He is "overhyped" in the media because he is the most popular driver. I don't think anyone is saying he's the best driver.

That's exactly what I was trying to say.

Just didn't come out that way. :thumb:

I'm not sure that I agree that the media as "hyped" him up to be as good as his father. There may be fans who have done that in their own mind. Again, I believe he is "hyped up" in the media due to his popularity.

Jr. was hyped up from the moment the media found out he would attempt to follow in his father's footsteps. ;) Unfair to him, but the media doesn't seem to care about anything but sensational journalism, which sells! :irked: But I think Jr. has handled it much better than most in his shoes would have. :thumb: Of course, it helped that he was groomed by his dad.

If his name was Dale Johnson Jr. He wouldn't have nowhere near as many fans as he does.

But it's not.

And if Kyle Petty's last name was Smith, he'd be working in a Wal-Mart somewhere.

I agree with you.

Please don't misunderstand my post. I do not dislike Jr.

I was just stating that because of his name he has a great following and much more is expected of him.

Kyle Petty is not much of a racer, but sure is very charitable and does allot for children. I will always respect him for that. His name and racing has afforded him the ability to raise lots of money and put on many charitable events for the Victory Junction Camp.
