November 9, 201510 yr ESPN's FPI (which, in my opinion, has been pretty good this year in both ranking the nation's teams, but also predicting outcomes) looks like this: 38th -- Louisville 41st -- Western Kentucky 56th -- Cincinnati 65th -- Vanderbilt 68th -- Kentucky 75th -- Marshall Hard to argue those teams in that order, if I'm being honest.
November 9, 201510 yr A Louisville/WKU game would be really interesting this year. One one side: the unstoppable force vs the immovable object. And on the other: a moveable object vs a fairly stoppable force. Seeing what WKU's offense could do against the Louisville defense would be very entertaining.
November 10, 201510 yr I personally think WKU would beat Louisville by 10+. I have trouble envisioning a blowout in either direction. While the Hilltoppers' decimation of Conference USA is impressive, it's worthwhile to remember that they also lost to Indiana, which hasn't won a single game in more than a month. The WKU defense is extremely vulnerable. The Louisville offense is at times completely helpless. The game could potentially be very ugly all around.

While the Hilltoppers' decimation of Conference USA is impressive, it's worthwhile to remember that they also lost to Indiana, which hasn't won a single game in more than a month. As someone that watches every WKU football game I will say the loss to Indiana stings, but just to keep some things in perspective about that game, it was the first game after starting running back Leon Allen tore his ACL and was lost for the season. Also, at the time running back ACE Wales was not active, recovering from injury himself. So WKU went to Indiana and played a true freshmen running back, DeAndre Ferby, in his first start on the road at a BIG 10 school. With all that WKU lost by 4 points and got stuffed late on a 4th and goal. I feel like if WKU played Indiana again the outcome would be different. Just my opinion though.

November 10, 201510 yr Dancing on Louisville's football grave is a bit premature given what they're doing to teams defensively. Yeah they got beat up earlier this year, but let's take a close look at that 1-4 start... Auburn: no doubt about it, Louisville took that one on the chin. The offensive line was dreadful but still, two big defensive plays by Auburn sealed that one and the Cardinals lost a neutral site game by just a touchdown. Houston: certainly looking less like a miserable win by the day as they continue to thwart all comers. At this point they look like they'll be the G5 representative in the playoff bowl series or whatever the devil they're calling those things now. Clemson: the Cardinals lost by three points to the No. 1 team in the country. Florida State: Apart from allowing Cook to go off in the third quarter, Louisville held their own in this game. Not bad for a road game against a perennial national power. * * * * Pretending like Louisville's four losses are like the four losses they'd have taken back in the Big East doesn't really stack up. Against less impressive competition, Louisville's defense has been stifling. The only reason Wake and BC were in those games at all was a series of massive plays on defense... is the WKU defense capable of making those kinds of plays at the line of scrimmage? My experience in watching the Hilltoppers this year says that they aren't and that Louisville's offense would look more like they did in the Syracuse game than in the Boston College game.

My apologies, I thought that was overboard myself. U of L would score a lot on Western's D. My guess would be last team with the ball wins. Would be a great bowl game for me. Would give me an opportunity to give/get grief from my sons and daughter. I went to WKU and I have a son there and a son at U of L along with a daughter living in Louisville who's a bit of a Cardinals fan.
November 10, 201510 yr WKU blows out Indiana any other day of the week. The loss to IU was a fluke, but its a loss nonetheless. WKU played well against LSU @ LSU for the first half. But WKU may be the best team in the state.

I grew up in a Hilltopper household, but my childhood allegiances and my graduate degree both rest with UofL. It would be a big day around here.
