*- Second Round has existed since the move to four-teams per district making the playoffs in 1991

Friday November 13

Stanton City Park

7:30 PM Kickoff

Bell County (9-2) averaging 38 points a game, 252 rush yards a game,

Powell County (8-3) averaging 33 points a game, 323 rush yards a game.

I think there is all ready a thread maybe a moderator can combine them. Go Bobcats.

Bell will win this one convincingly.

Powell County has Uncle Mo squarely on their side right now.

Historic heights for their program and winners of 7 straight. They are playing with confidence and have their community behind them, and that definitely means something.

With that said, the 3 losses they had early this year was simply because they did not have the depth and athletes on Defense to hang for 4 Quarters and I think you will see the same again.

I think you see Powell scrape and claw for 2.5 Quarters, but Bell just starts wearing them down late.

8 straight!

I don't much like comparing scores, but it's hard to ignore the outcome of each team's game against Casey Co. in the regular season. Powell Co. lost to Casey Co. by a score of 36-13 and Bell Co. beat Casey Co. 47-12.

8 straight!

Yup...

To be fair... of those 8 only one team is even still playing (LCA).. but it doesn't change the fact that Coach Brewer's bunch has to be strutting around campus and feeling like they can beat anyone in front of them and that attitude can go a long way this time of the year.

The other thing that does bare noting is that even though I feel like Bell has a distinct advantage in depth and athleticism... this isn't your typical Bell team. Bell plays a ton of guys each way and only has about a 50 man roster. It's not like Powell is lining up against a Belfry, or even a Corbin, where only a handful of guys are being asked to play the entire game.

If Powell can find a way to keep it within a TD or even lead heading into the 4th this could get interesting, especially if they start believing they are going to win. The key for Powell will be to make sure someone other than Humfleet has to beat them. He is the one player they have no answer for.

Does a body know any more history of Powell Co? I see where they have won a 2nd round game. When? And what else have they don if any in the playoffs?

The only time they've ever been out of the first round was 2011. They were the four seed but won at #1 Lewis County, then pulled a big upset at #2 Bourbon County. They lost in the regional final at #1 Garrard County, 48-16.

Ok thanks. Just wondering. I knew you would have the answer.
