Impressed by the Bombers Marching Band. They took time to learn the St X fight song (same as Army and NC State).

The Bombers blocked a punt and fumbled it back to the Tigers. Later in the game, the Bombers had three players surround the X punter and the Tiger escaped to pick up a first down in amazing fashion.

Desmond Ridder was asked to throw way more than usual and it cost him three or four INTs. Chitwood also threw one late in the game.

If you count the band, there may have been 500 Bomber supporters including possibly a hundred in the home stands. Both teams are now 6-4. It was still better than watching the U of L/Wake Forest titanic struggle on TV. :ohbrother:

Despite what the halftime moderator repeatedly stated, these schools are only related by their Catholic foundation. The Bombers are a Jesuit institution. The Xaverian Brothers founded the Louisville school. To my knowledge, they are not "sister schools".

The Bombers have a nice team. Very physical on both sides of the ball. The QB is a good player both from under center and from the shotgun. The RB had nice forward body lean when he ran and showed some quickness. Good receivers as well. And #77 (the left tackle) was quite an impressive lineman. They ran behind him repeadedly.

The Bombers defense was very sound. Nothing flashy but sound in coverage and very good tacklers.

The Bomber kicking game was pretty good with the exception of their kickoff coverage, which gave up a TD. Why any team would kick to Roshkowski of St. X baffles me. He is a big-time threat in the return game.

The St. X offense struggled to move the ball with any consistency. They were rarely able to run effectively. They made a few plays in the passing game, but were very inconsistent there as well.

A continued common theme for the Tigers reared its ugly head again tonight. Early in the game, the Tigers put together a nice drive resulting in a First and Goal from the 5. Once again, they got stopped and had to settle for a field goal. Once again, they did not deploy a TE or get under center. Their spread offense was stymied in the red zone, which ended up being costly.

Overall, this was a good, hard-hitting game.

Ready for the Wolford Experiment to end.

Maybe someone with actual varsity football coaching experience would be a good start . . .

Is a 10 point loss to Cincy X the straw that breaks the camel's back for you guys?

Is the talent at X where it needs to be to compete with the Ohio powers along with Trinity and Male?

It is definitely not a one-game thing for me. It is continued struggle with good teams, particularly physical teams. It is three years of offensive red-zone woes. It is a series of unsound moves on the field and in selecting the coaching staff, many of whom have little if any varsity experience. Also, Wolford has an 0-4 record against Male, and many of those games have been lopsided with regard to score.

As far as talent goes, the current team is a little bit down as compared to some past years. However, I did not see a huge talent gap between the Tigers and the Bombers. The only mismatch I saw was the Bombers offensive line. The rest of the players were fairly even in talent.

Also, the 2013 team that Wolford inherited was loaded with talent. The disorganization and inexperience of the coaching staff led to some major losses that year, including an embarassing playoff loss to Male.

Bottom line is that a program like St. X deserves better. It is embarassing, sad, and laughable that a coach with 0 varsity coaching experience, even as an assistant, was handed the job based on connections with the administration and an NFL name.

Thanks for the additional information. And it sounds like your real beef is with the powers that be at X.

Isn't their staff full of assistants with varsity experience? I think they have 4/5 former head coaches working as assistants. Didn't they just bring in an OC from a private school in Tennessee with head coaching experience?

Don't know what the problems are, but don't think it's as simple as bring in a head coach with "varsity coaching experience."

Wow. Just Wow. I must say I am amazed by the comments here. So with a different head coach you guys are saying Cincy St. X would have lost? Looking at the Staff... They have added former head coaches along with a ton of great coaches. St. X also has coaches on the staff from the previous head coach.

Guys, look at the athletes. I think the issue is that St. X has about 98% of the team from CSAA schools. Look at Trinity - almost 50/50 CSAA and public school kids. Look at Male - 100% public school kids.

St. X does more with less as far as athletes. By that I mean kids that run 4.4 40's.

I love the St. X kids and would love to add some more public school kids striving for the best education money can buy.

Go Tigers! I am a fan of the staff. No staff out there has a guy like Bruner on it! That guy is by far the best defensive coordinator in the state of KY!
