I am told that Cox and two other PRP starters (the Banier twins) were at Taylor County last year and moved to Louisville over the summer. Each of them is a sophomore. Quite an infusion of talent for an already-powerful program.

 

Taylor County made it to the 5th Region finals without them and, if they had won, would have faced PRP in the semistate.

He was on last night and was throwing the speed.

He hit 89 a few times on the stadium gun but was consistently throwing about 87...

Congrats to Boyd Co an a great season. They just ran into a pitcher who was on fire and our bats just didn't come through for us. Plus PRP made less mistakes during the game than we did, which usually in the post season the team with the fewest mistakes wins.

 

I really think that the quality of teams, other than the Raceland game, that we played in the post season leading up to the state tournament seemed to hurt us a little bit. But we played our hearts out against PRP, who looks as if they could win the championship, just wish it were us moving on instead. Justin Moore came out and really pitched with alot of heart tonight and got better as the game went on. He pitched well enough to win, but so did Cox from PRP.

The Boyd Boys definately can hold their heads high, when the best teams meet up unfortunantely one has to go home early. This time it was us, But like everyone said the Lions have tons and tons to be proud of!

Beechwood has faced many teams this year featureing pitchers that throw just as hard if not harder . Not takeing away from the young mans performance at all, but Beechwood can play small ball with the best of them. Take a kid throwing 91 -92 , lay down 3 bunts in a row, a error or two with a stolen base and these guys have you 3-0.

 

I know, thats what they did to us on their way to what looks like a state championship.
