Its really hard to justify paying all that tuition as a parent when your qb son gets demoted to 2nd string.

 

From how I understood it, the competition for the position went on over most of the summer and was decided in the scrimmage against Henry Clay. Both players had the ball for an equal amount of time and Woosley had the better score/stats.

 

I do understand their position, though. After Woosley won this year and with Blackburn as a credible threat to take the job next year, a team that is guaranteed to give you first string does seem like a better proposition. I was sad to see the Harper brothers go, and I wish them the best in their time at Waggener.

All that is true. It is also true that it's against the rules to transfer for athletic reasons.

If JCPS has a rule trying to keep former private schoolers from transferring to JCPS publics and playing, then JCPS NEEDS to enforce it (although saying a kid can't transfer from X or T but can from North Oldham, that creates a bit of an issue).

I thought the rule was from one JCPS program to another and not necessarily from X or T (or DeSales or CAL or KCD or Holy Cross or whatever).

 

The Jenkins basketball case is a pretty good one. Plenty of people floored when he was eligible at both in the same school year.

 

And I know "financial hardship" is not an official reason. However, I've seen it used enough in the "other" category to understand people use it.

 

Not to mention that the KHSAA generally stands behind any decision that JCPS makes as it pertains to JCPS transfers. That's why you can see a kid at Western Monday and playing for PRP on Friday (just an example people, don't take it literally!). It takes weeks for KHSAA to review and decide on most cases around the state. They have always allowed JCPS to rule themselves since it primarily only affects them.

The inside story from Trinity is that they got kicked off the team at Trinity and did not leave due to financial hardship. That is coming from a inside source at Trinity. They used the financial hardship as the reason when things weren't going well at Trinity. Sure looks as though Trinity hasn't missed a beat without out them. They finally found a level of football where they could play.

 

You need to lose that source.

Please send some "kicked off" kids to Ballard. We could've used them last Friday night!

The kids are not the issue. These are all good kids. The issue is making sure everyone is playing on a level playing field. If your going to investigate, check the last known address, make sure they are not living there. Anyone can get an apartment.

Reading CJ this morning and they talked about the emergence of the Harper brothers for Waggener. How are they possibly eligible when they played at least the first 3 varsity contests for Trinity (check KHSAA stats)? If there was a change of address, Waggener and Trinity are about 1 mile apart, so how does that justify eligibility? I thought JCPS also had their own rules on sitting out when transferring from private to public or vice versa?

 

I have never heard of kids playing varsity in the same sport for 2 different schools in the same season.

You need to read this website more closely. The details of kids playing at one school and then playing at another school the next week have been shared a few times.

Cause Khsaa play by their own rules. Period. Whomever they want eligible is eligible.

Mom got mad that Larry wasn't allowed to dress for Male game due to missing practice and school Tues and Wed sick. Team rule! He was again told prior to boarding bus for the game. Called mom to pick him up and she decided if he wasn't playing neither was Manny. Grabbed both boys and equipment and the rest is history. FACT!
